An Eventful Evening

Yel was working late in his office sorting papers, the sun had already left the sky meaning the only thing lighting his office was a dim lamp (that probably needed a new lightbulb) in the corner of the room. The window was left half open, letting a small breeze drift in and shuffle the papers he was filling out and organizing into files. It was at this time he heard a soft knock at his door, which he assumed to be the janitor warning him the building would be closing soon.

"Come in!" He said, meanwhile tapping the last few papers into place. He had hoped to finish them tonight, but he guessed it could wait. However, when he looked back up to the creak of the door, a rather unexpected face was revealed. "Sunnie?"

Sunnie nodded as they stepped inside, closing the door with a soft thump and turning to face him. 'I figured you would be here, I wanted to ask you something,' they signed shakily, obviously tired.

"Well of course, especially if you came all this way. You barely ever leave your apartment, you hermit," Yel responded. He was indeed, very surprised, and gestured for them to sit down as he leaned back into his own chair, picking back up the papers he had been working on now that he knew he still had time.

'That actually leads into what I wanted to ask you about,' Sunnie signed before pulling out a chair and making themselves comfortable. 'I think we should rent a house together,' they stated.

Yel dropped the papers he was holding.

"Lucy, Lucy, Lucy," Happy repeated, poking her cheek each time to get her attention.

It was decently late and said person was trying to catch up on any twitter drama or announcements before going to bed. This, however, was being prevented by the childish college student incessantly calling her name and interrupting her train of thought.

"What is it, Happy?" she snapped, slamming her phone on the coffee table hard enough to dent the wood. She grimaced, regretting it immediately.

Happy shot up from his place on the floor almost immediately, "Mac ate this weird looking mushroom and now he keeps walking into walls and has spots all over him," he said much more energetically than was probably normal, evident of his bubbly personality. "I tried to shake it out of him but it only made it worse," he stated dumbly.

Lucy mentally face-palmed before picking up her phone (that now had a small crack in it) and deftly opening up the messages app.

"I'll text Lauren to go start up the car since she's the only one with a driver's license, you go round up Mac and Rubiks so you have someone to carry Mac with if her walking gets worse," she commanded in a tone that warned Happy not to object, already typing the message and hoping Lauren wasn't asleep. "I'll join you in a minute."

Happy nodded and jogged off in the direction of Mac's room, yelling for Rubiks excruciatingly loudly.

Lucy's phone beeped a few seconds later, screen brightening the room.

"Incoming message from: SegsyLauren;), 'Okay, but you're paying for the gas.'"

Lucy walked over to the coat rack and grabbed her wallet out of the hoodie pocket before heading to the garage, resigned to her fate. She should never have expected a relaxed evening, especially not in her chaotic cottegecore frat house.

"Are you serious?!?! This did NOT just crash AGAIN!" Sapple shouted angrily, banging his hands on his desk in frustration. He had been animating for nearly an hour, and the last time he had saved was at best ten minutes ago. "And this Wi-Fi sucks, who the hell set it up anyway!" he threw up his hands, yelling to no one in particular.

"Probably Yel, he can't do anything right, and this Wi-Fi is preventing me from gaming in peace! Do you know how embarrassing it is to lose three rounds in a row man?" Sam groaned, kicking his legs up on his desk.

"Hey, Yel is a great guy, you're the one always riling him up!" Sapple defended the counselor, who happened to hold a special place in his heart.

"I rile him up??? The guy treats me like a baby!" He said, spinning around in his chair to face Sapple." Always telling me 'Oh you shouldn't do that, that's not a good idea,'" he mocked, making quote symbols with his fingers. "Like come on dude, could he shut the fuck up for just a few minutes???" he said exasperatedly.

"That's because you are a big baby, dumbass! You tried to put a tac on the English professor's chair because he failed your crush! Who, might I add, wasn't even interested!" Sapple yelled, turning to face him as well, face red with pent up frustration.

"Awwwww, is lil Sappie maaaad?" Sam goaded, covering his mouth with his hand in mock surprise. "Is he gonna yell for his little counselor buddy? Huh?" he said, drawing out each vowel to exaggerate the words.

"That's it! You are an awful roommate!" Sapple shouted, standing up and throwing the headphones he had been using to try and focus on drawing onto the floor, letting them clatter away as he grabbed his phone and started texting his friends. "I'm staying at my friend's place for tonight, don't break any of my shit, I'll finish this WIP later," he stated angrily as he saved and slammed his laptop closed, giving it barely enough time to shut down.

"Finally, bitchboy is leaving and I can game in peace..." Sam grumbled, irking Sapple even more as he collected his belongings, planning to stay out for the night.

Sapple didn't pay any more attention to what Sam was saying, knowing it would only anger him further, and slammed the door behind him when he left. He was determined to get a new roommate, even going to the point of getting Sam kicked out if he had to.
