Chapter One

As someone once said, we are all brought into this world through blood and pain. But while this might be true for most, it isn't for some of my family.
Athena sprouted from Zeus's head when Hephaestus hit him with a hammer. Aphrodite was born from the sea foam after Uranus threw his severed testicles into it. Dionysus was sewn to Zeus's thigh after his mother was killed by lightning.
For me, I sprung from the neck of my beheaded mother. I never even got to know her. I wonder how my relationship would be if she had not been murdered.
For those of you that are be educated in the world of Greek mythology, you might know who I'm talking about. I'll give you a hint, remember who had snakes for hair?
In my opinion, I have a pretty fucked up family, well, more like city.
When myself, Pegasus, and Chrysoar sprung from Medusa's neck after she had been beheaded, Pegasus and I were "adopted" by Poseidon.
I don't refer to him as father. He is anything but.     Since he is the god of horses, he thought no better of him than to take responsibility for us. Responsibility to him means ownership. This has been proved when he gave Pegasus to his real son, Bellerophon.
A pity that he died when he commanded Pegasus to fly him up mount Olympus.
But even though he was sold for profit, Pegasus still loves Poseidon for who he is. Because of this, we will never be on the same ground.
I don't know why, but somewhere is the writings, everyone seemed to forget what Poseidon really did to Medusa.
Not only did he rape her in his temple, but then convinced Athena to curse her to forever be a gorgon for raping her husband, or so Athena was told.
Thankfully Poseidon never tried to do anything to me. He's always been to fearful.
You see, when I was "born", there was a bit of an accident. When I fell, I tore a slice of Zeus's flesh off while also smashing my face into the ground and smashing a few teeth in the process. Disgustingly, my reflex was to eat the flap. Because of this, my blood mixed with his.
What happens when you combine two Olympian's blood? Well, traits are transferred. This means that I got some of his powers.
I can strike the ground with a powerful bolt with a single thought or even incinerate someone. Some of my other traits mixed into the concoction also, but we'll talk about those later.
The way that I see it, parts of Medusa can be seen in her children.
Pegasus is pure and majestic, Chrysoar is dirty and rabid, and I am a thing of nightmares.
While some would take that as a weakness and horror, I wear it with pride, literally.
I am the polar opposite of my twin. Tall and dark, black even. Lean, quick, and packing a mean set of teeth while also having a long and luxurious mane and tail. While I look like a winged horse, once you get to my head, you're sorely mistaken. Long, razor sharp teeth, strong enough to bite through the marble Olympus is so fond of.
I exude "don't fuck with me" vibes.
I am proud of who I am, while some might say otherwise, I enjoy striking fear into others with a mere glance. I'm able to see who people really are. In Olympus, this means ignorant, peacock, back stabbers.
But in a world of trickery and violence, there is one bright light.
    His name is Primus.
I don't know what it is, but I've been draw to him from the very start.
We met probably a million, maybe 2, years ago.
He isn't an Olympian, so I would never of met him in an average day.
    But I'm anything but average.
There is this place that many gods and deities frequent called Omnipotence City. It's basically this place that everyone can go to meet others like them, like the Norse, Egyptian, and Mayan gods.
Primus is among those. Not their heritage, but he went to Omnipotence City looking for others like him.
I was there exploring since some of the Olympians had gone to participate in some of the activities. Activities like "who had the most sacrifices?" Or "who holds the titles for most victories in battle?" Really just a pissing contest in my opinion.
People come from far and wide, so it's really hard to be outside the norm. But I always get weird looks or see people change their course to avoid me.
    Not like I care.
But when I noticed the same happening to another, I got curious; and that is very hard for me.
    Was this person like me?
Well, not really person, more like robot.
I had not seen his kind around here before, especially not with his form and colors. Mainly bright blue and black.
He seems fairly tall with large spiked shoulder pads and horns atop his head. Not extremely large horns, just right in my opinion. Kind of like an Earth deer. They curled as they got longer, making them look like that of a spiral horned deer.
His faced seemed kind, but not soft. No, the face of a war general. Serious and brave, but not deranged. He has the brightest blue eyes I had ever seen, kind of close to the sky blue. They matched his plating.
He has long arms with armor all the way down to his wrists. His hands are the proportion of a human's and rounded at the ends.
Think of him as a human made of metal. Just taller; and bluer.
He's covered in armor from head to toe, or foot? I can't really tell if he has toes.
He looks around like he has no idea where he is or what to do.
I look around and he seems to be alone.
It's very rare that I see someone new here. I've been coming here for thousands of years.
It's a good break from my world.
While I don't actually know anyone here in a friendly manner, I enjoy people watching.
It's not abnormal for some of the deities to be tall, but I definitely stand out among others. I've only seen some taller than me a handful of times.
Before I know what I'm doing, my hooves carry me in the direction of the stranger.
While I've been standing within his sight this entire time, he's been so busy looking around that he hasn't noticed me, yet.
He turns away from me when I get close, seeming to be watching a group of nymphs walk in the opposite direction, chatting to each other.
    "Looking for someone?"
His shoulders tense when he hears me, but he turns around anyway.
He reaches just above my back, which conveys his height since very few can do that. I'm much taller than Pegasus, probably a little over 2 feet; and he's tall.
"One could say that, but who I don't quite know." He doesn't even miss a beat once he fully sees me. "You?"
His voice is deep and he talks fluidly. I don't quite know the word, not sophisticated, but something like it. He's mature in the way that he speaks and uses his words.
"I never wait for others, I don't have anyone to wait for."
It might seem sad, but I don't have any friends. Everyone's always been too scared to get too close to me. Save for my brothers, well, not Chrysoar, he disappeared a while ago. Pegasus is an annoying prick.
"Well then, seems me and you have something in common," his eyes widen at me in a questioning manner.
It takes me a second to realize what he's doing," oh! My name's Ash."
"Ash." He lets the word roll off his tongue."My designation is Primus."
One of the downsides to being in the world of deities is the variation of terms. Everyone has their own terms and words for things. Some of them just don't make sense.
Some of the people walking around keep giving us weird looks. Granted we're standing in the middle of the walkway, but they don't own the walkway.
Walk somewhere else.
I glare at them and they bow their heads and look to the floor as they speed up their pace.
Primus looks to where I am looking before looking back to face me. He seems to care a lot more than I do though.
"So, Primus, what brings you to this side of the galaxies?"
    "Nothing really, just exploring."
He's lying. From the way that he keeps glancing around and fidgeting his fingers, I can tell. But I don't know him, it's not my business. But even though it's not my business, I want to know. I want to know everything, it gives me good dirt on others.
"If you don't mind me asking, what are you?"
    How forward of you sir.
"Isn't it obvious? I'm a winged horse." I don't and never will refer to myself as a Pegasus. Its degrading. I am not my brother and never will be. He can go fuck himself.
He looks me up and down. It's quite funny, he has to look pretty far up to see my face. I could lower my head, could.
"Apologies, where I come from, there are no carbon based life forms, no other life forms at all, actually."
I have no idea what a carbon based life form is.
    "Where do you come from?"
"I don't come from anywhere. I float around space. I had a brother once, but we are no longer on speaking terms."
Don't I know how that feels. If I could just make Pegasus disappear from my life, I would do it all in a heart beat. Actually, include all of Olympus in that also.
Did he say he was just floating around in space?
I would just go somewhere on my own, but where would I go?
"What do you mean you just float around in space? You had to have come from somewhere."
He looks away solemnly, seeming to be in thought.
For some reason, it doesn't make me feel good to see him sad. I've never felt this way before. What is it? It makes me want to comfort him in some weird way.
    What is happening to me?
"I don't know the answer to that question." With the way he's looking at me, he seems to be telling me the truth.
How can someone really not know where they came from? Yes, there are cases where some do not have a mother or father, or any family at all, but they know a little about themselves. Where they are, what is around them, maybe even just the name of their home. But nothing? That's impossible.
The hallway is getting busier and busier by the minute.
Thankfully no one has touched me yet, and yes, that happens, whether by accident or on purpose. But it won't last for long.
"Why don't we go somewhere more quiet?" It's more a statement than a question. I'm going whether he follows or not.
Once you get to the end of the hallway, it opens into a large sprawling courtyard with ponds, benches, and a wide variety of foliage. So thankfully we can find somewhere quieter and less populated than here.
He's nodding before he answers,"that would be a good idea. It is getting rather crowded in here."
Seems we share the same opinion in some form.
I walk past him, but he stops short when I flare my wings a bit. I normally hold them up when I move since they rub. It also keeps others away from me by creating a from of bubble.
I chalk it down to him pondering again, but he stops me short, "what are those symbols on your hindquarter?"
I move my left wing and glance back. I have these weird shaped scarred into my butt. I have no idea where they came from, i've always assumed that I was born with them. No one else seemed to care. The fur is white instead of black there.
"I have no idea, i've had them my whole life. Don't know don't care." I turn and keep walking, seeing him follow in the corner of my eye. But he keeps looking.
"It's rude to stare at someone."
He looks one last time and walks up to my shoulder, mimicking my pace.
People clear a path when they see us coming. Another perk of my image. I don't even know these people and they won't touch me with a ten foot pole.
"Are you sure you don't know where you got them from?"
I roll my eyes, why is this so important to him? "I have no idea. I assure you, I want to know also."
They're quite odd, they seem to be faces. One is pointy and the other blunt. And trust me, i've looked everywhere, but I can't find anything about them.
The way that I see it, best not to spend a tone of time worrying about them since I have no way to get rid of them.
I know that no one gave them to me since I remember coming out of Medusa'a neck. I wasn't a child when it happened.
My hooves make clicking sounds as I walk along the marble, yet another place showing it's popularity. The space is comprised of towering arches and greenery. The area isn't outside nor inside. A combination of both. At the center, there is a large stadium with seats reaching for the skies and a large stage in the middle.
I never make use of it though. I don't even fit in the seats.
We pass by all manner of people. Centaurs, satyrs, human looking beings, floating eyes, and even people made of lava. Each and every one of them presiding over their own people.
All of the avoid me though. Maybe it's because i'm glaring at them, but who knows.
Primus on the other hand, is looking at everyone we walk by. He doesn't say anything, but I can see the questions in his gaze. It seems that he never even knew this variety of life even existed.
Once we make it out of the arches, I go over to a particular pond that is vacant and away from the others. A large tree with vines hanging down sits on the edge of the pond, creating a pleasant amount of shade. The ponds have certain creatures in them, but mostly fish and frogs.
I sit down, going down on my knees first and then laying down on the green grass under the tree to escape the sun.
It's always like this here. Sunny, warm, and swarming with people.
One of the downsides to being such a dark color is that I get increasingly warm in the sun, something that Olympus has constantly. Well, unless one of the big three is having a bad day.
There isn't a bench at this pond, so Primus sits down next to me.
We're about the same height sitting, but I'm still a bit taller than him.
Primus looks around, seemingly not able to take everything in at the same time. "What are those colorful things in the water? And the green things?"
I turn to him, "the ones in the water are fish and the green things are called frogs. Have you never seen any before?"
He looks to the creatures and follows their movement, tilting his head in different directions. "As you might say, I don't get out much."
I can tell.
I tilt my head at him, "do you live under a rock?"
His face scrunches up. I haven't noticed it until now, but he doesn't have anything resembling eyebrows. Nor does he have eyelashes or a nose. He does blink though. "Excuse me?"
"It's a figure of speech. Do you know what that means?"
He chuckles and looks back to the water," I know what you mean, but do I look like I could fit under a rock?"
I laugh at that.
He's funny, I don't remember the last time I laughed. It might have been never. I've haven't really had any positive relationships with anyone.
Even though I just met him, I enjoy being with him; in comfortable silence.
I'm not saying i'm going to go in head first, but might as well enjoy it while it lasts.
We talked about a lot that day, slowly becoming closer to one another.
I learned that he really was alone. The only family he ever had tried to kill him.
He created descendants of himself to help him defeat his brother, Unicron. But they offered no council.
He would always be alone within his species.
So he went to Omnipotence City, looking for others like him.
All he found was me.
But that was enough.
I invited him back to Olympus with me, which he gladly obliged to. He had nowhere else to go anyway.
Pegasus was weary at first, but it turned to full on hate as time went on. I don't remember why, cause he never really cared for me anyways.
Poseidon didn't like Primus from the start because he was different. I think it was also because Primus made me happy.
It took Primus time, but he learned to let their opinions wash over him like I had. They don't matter.
They've always had opinions on what's right and what's wrong. I'm not going to start caring now.
But with him, I finally had someone.
I cherished every moment of it, but that's how happiness works. It doesn't last forever.
