Forever Love

15 2 1

She waited a lifetime,

She watched the sun rise and fall,

The days awaken and return to rest,

Time turned slow,

Slow as an old oak grows, but,

In the blink of an eye,

The wrinkles formed, and silver rained from atop her frail head,

Still there was no ring, or knock, or note, for which she longed,

As a widow waits out on the widows watch,

She stood near the phone, awaiting her loves call to come home,

In her last breath,

No ring did come, but,

Beside her when her eyes last saw the light of life,

She was, once again, joined by her long, lost love, at last!
