*Imagine comforting Hope when she misses her family*

You had gone out gorcery shopping because you ran out of food. You came back and unlocked the door and walked in witha huge bag full of bags of groceries.

"Hope! I'm home!" You yelled

No response

'Huh that's weird' You thought for a second then dismissing it.

Putting your keys down and taking off your jacket you made your way to the kitchen and started unloading the groceries and putting them away.

You were slightly confused cause usually Hope would come and help you even when you reassured her you didn't need help.

You finished putting the food away and putting the bags in the plastic bag holder in the pantry

You left the kitchen in search for for your girlfriend, which was gonna be a little hard cause the mansion was big

(You live in New Orleans in the Mikaelson Mansion with her)

You had been walking around quite a bit when you reached her mothers room

You looked in and saw her standing there

It wasn't an unusual occurrence, she missed her family dearly and you understood that somtimes it's harder than others and she just needed time

She liked to sit and recall the memories, no talking, just silence, she would cry sometimes others she would stay blank faced but you knrw exactly how she felt when she was feeling it

You walked over to her slowly to not scare her

You got beside her as she continued to brush her fingers over the picture, she started to snifle

You put your hand on her back rubbing soothingly still not talking

"How do you do it?" She asked quietly in a whimper

You had also lost your family due to you being captured and tortured by hunters, even killing your human mother, a sympathetic hunter let you go and helped you escape

The trauma and hurt never really went away but you learned to live with it, it was apart of you whether you liked it or not

"I just don't understand how you make it look so easy. Almost like it never happened." She continued looking up at you with tears in her eyes

You took the picture and set it down and turned her to fully look at you. You caressed her face lovingly

"Well it happened a long time ago, you lost your family pretty recently even though it's only been a few years. Hope I know you want it to go away but by pushing it down and not dealing with it, the hurt will never go away. The way I see it is the past can hurt, it can hurt so much but you can't change what happened but you can either run from it, or learn and grow from it."

She looked at you still crying, it hurt your heart to see her so broken.
You bought her to the bed in the room and sat down making her sit down next to you, as you held her while she rested her head in your neck

"Listen baby, I want to take the pain away from you but only you can do that, you can't just get rid of the memory you have to learn to live with it and it takes a long time but eventually the pain will pass but not of ypu keep blaming yourself and dwelling on it and that's just the hard truth."

She didn't speak, the only sound in the room was her snifling

"Do you, do you ever think that there was something you could've done to prevent what happened."

"Of course in the beginning that's all i thought of, but I then realized that there was absolutely nothing I could've done and if I kept convincing myself there was, I would go mad. You are not at fault hope, there was nothing you could do then but there is something you can do now, you can continue living an amazing life that they wanted for you. There's nothing wrong with still thinking about them, but you can't keep over thinking about what happened. By accepting what happened instead of denying yourself closure, is the only way it will ever get better my love."

You kissed her on the head as you continued to hold her and rub her back. The snifling dwindled over time and soon she raised her head from your neck.

"Thank you baby, I love you so much." She said with tear stained cheeks and puffy eyes

You wiped the remaining tears from her face and kissed her on the nose

"Of course baby, if you ever feel bad you know you can always come to me."

"I know."

"I love you too hope, more than you'll ever know."
