"So this is Spock!?!"  Kehau says with playful curiosity when she sees Michael and Spock walk out of the shuttle.... Hugh was babysitting the children at the moment.... the bearded Vulcan tilts his head at her curiously and sees his sister smile at the woman out of the corner of his eyes "yes it is Kehaulani, Captian, Commander Saru"  Michael greets "but how?"  Saru asks slightly confused "the beard is magic!"  Kehau jokes playfully Pike chuckles with a smile then says "Talosian projection that's how"  then he turns to Kehau and asks curiously "were you one of....!?!"  she nods with a smile then he says with a sigh in his voice "of course you were!"  Spock looks at them even more confused than before "I don't know how much of his past your father has told you about but he once called me Lani"  Kehau tells Spock Spock's eyes widen in surprise then he looks at Pike and says with a emotionless expression on his face and matching tone "greetings Captian"  Pike smirks as he takes a step closer to his friend and says "Spock are you alright?"  Spock replies "much better for seeing you in person, sir even if we are only riding into danger"  Kehau says "well you must be used to that by now after all it is Pike!"  a small smile appears on Spock's face as he looks at her and Pike asks while looking at him "is that a smile I see on your face?"  Spock replies "I believe it is yes"  Pike looks at Michael then at Kehau and says to Spock "well she does have that way about her! welcome to "Discovery"  and if you say "there's so much to discover" so help me....!"  Kehau asks "you'll what!?! ground me to my quarters!?! well I hate to inform you Captian but there are two things wrong with that "punishment" one.... I am not a member of Starfleet so I don't HAVE to follow such an order! and two.... I happen to like my quarters for that is where my children are!"  Spock looks at her and asks "you have children!?!.... on board this ship!.... while it's in danger!?!"  she replies "yes.... I could have left them on Kaminar with their aunt but they are just barely a month old and I do not wish to miss any part of their lives growing up I would also hate myself if they ever felt I Saru and I had abandoned them for any reason for who knows when we'd be able to return and watching them grow by holo communicator just feels.... emptier than a Vulcan's logic!"  another smile appears on Spock's face "odd I half expected you to be more like your father but the only smile I have ever seen from him comes from his eyes not his lips!"  she tells him he chuckles though he made it seem like he was only clearing his throat "nice save!"  Kehau teases Michael chuckles and Spock's eyes sparkled like they were laughing "that's more like it!"  Kehau jokes Michael laughs Saru, Pike, Kehau, Spock and Michael walk out of the Shuttle Bay they walk down the hallway together until Kehau takes a different turn down a different hallway and Spock watches her walk away with a curious expression in his eyes "she's probably going to see her children.... she hasn't entered the Bridge in awhile"  Michael tells him as they continue on their way towards the turbo lift "she's allowed on the Bridge!?!"  Spock asks with a surprised tone Michael nods and replies "she's spoiled like that!"  Pike smiles at the two of them as Michael continues "but now that she has become a mother I doubt she'll bring them with her if she ever decides to regain that privilege"  Spock replies "that is most logical"  Michael says "she would agree with you on that!"  Pike laughs as the Turbolift doors open and the four of them walk inside "she also has a garden if you ever need any herbs for tea"  Michael tells Spock who looks at her in surprise "she has a odd allergy to the food simulator"  Michael informs him Spock nods though there was an expression of curiosity on his face for he has never heard of such an allergy....

The next day Michael shows Spock Kehau's garden where he meets her children and learns another surprise.... that her son was named after his father.... he learned a lot about her that day including what she remembered about each life she had lived and he found her to be truly fascinating.... and a good friend to his sister as well as the rest of the crew.... he also learned about her concerns about Airiam "I have yet to see her.... I don't know there's something about my concern about her that makes me NOT want to have her anywhere near my children.... truth be told I doubt even she knows whatever is going on with her is there.... it's almost subconscious and for a cybernetically augmented being like her that in itself can be dangerous!"  Kehau tells Michael as Spock holds Sarek while sitting on the bed/bench in the garden he looks over at them as Michael stands by her friends side holding Lani in her arms and Kehau makes a pot of Vulcan tea once she was done she pours a little of the tea into a cup walks it over to Spock and says "I don't know how well I've done with this but your father at least claimed that he liked it if you don't that's ok.... there's sugar and cream over on the table if you need it plus a few extra spices you can add if you so wish"  Spock carefully takes the cup from her after laying Sarek.... who had fallen asleep.... in the safely of one arm and says with a slight bow of his head "thank you"  she replies "du're na'shaya (you're welcome in Vulcan according to https://lingojam.com/EnglishtoVulcan%26VulcantoEnglishTranslator.... I apologize if it's wrong though)"  then she walks away as Spock stares at her in shock "there's a chessboard in the corner.... if you two think you can play one handed anyway I know better than to move those two too much when they fall that deep into sleep!.... I have one just in case your father desires a game but he never stays long enough to lose!"  Kehau says Spock smiles at her with a twinkle of laughter in his eyes as he watches her leave the room and Michael pulls out the chessboard from the corner of it though he was curious as to what she had meant by allowing her children to stay with them and then he found out that they were much like her.... able to read those that surround them those they care about the most.... and she also knew that they would be extra cautious not to disrupt the child in their arms slumber by taking their unwarranted anger too far.... Spock had followed Michael to Kehau's quarters once she was called to the Bridge so that they could both bring her children back to her and she welcomed them into her "home" as though they were neighbors coming for tea by this time both children were awake and hungry and while Michael left to head to the Bridge Spock stayed and helped Kehau feed the child that still lays in his arm what surprised Spock the most was that Kehau didn't ask questions as a matter of fact she seemed to avoid what he didn't want to talk about with expert precision they both look up when they hear Pike say into the ships con "this is your Captain brace for a bumpy ride"  Kehau says "I wasn't here when they went through some form of a time rift anomaly but apparently a probe they had sent into it had somehow been modified and attacked a shuttle Pike and Tyler had plotted into the rift once they returned they tried to analyze what it was searching for.... I wonder if whatever it was attached itself to Airiam's programming.... maybe that's what's controlling some of her movements!"  Spock looks at her oddly "I can only speculate and there's no reason to act upon such speculations without proof but.... she's a friend, and I can't help but worry about her and wonder what exactly it is that makes her presence on this ship seem so cold.... too many things have gone wrong ever since they had even attempted to analyze the probe so I can only assume...."  she continues when she notices the expression on his face she says "I have many friends on this ship and they love to gossip!"  he chuckles and she raises an eyebrow at him his eyes sparkle as though they were laughing and she smiles "can you sense me?!"  he asks "a little.... there's something blocking most of whatever you're feeling though that could be you yourself doing that.... your father has become quite good at it!.... yes I keep mentioning him.... no it's not to compare you to him!.... then again he is the only Vulcan male I remember and know so I guess in a way it is!.... though if you ask me there are probably worse Vulcans to be compared too"  she says "this is true!"  he replies with a smile "so are you curious to see how good I am?!.... just don't "go easy on me" like you did M"  she asks he smiles and nods she walks over to a shelf that hung on her wall and picks up a chessboard and they play a few rounds he wins a few she wins a few and he is very much surprised at just how good she was and could always tell when she LET him win.... he also found that she was trying to distract her children from what was going on around them which he found slightly amusing.... "you better go!.... I think Paul might need your help and don't worry about me I'm getting used to this"  Kehau says as she takes Sarek out of Spock's arm Spock let out a short soft chuckle then says "Chaya t'not"  she smiles at him then watches him leave.... a few minutes later Kehau has the computer ask Hugh to come to her quarters once Hugh arrives he watches as she separates herself and ends up on the Section 31 base where Airiam was fighting Michael Kehau picked up Nhan's breathing apparatus and hands it to her then goes to help Michael "I'm sorry Airiam but I can't allow you to hurt my family!"  Kehau says softly as she helps Michael fight she kicks Airiam into a open room then shuts the door "looks like you were right!"  Michael says as Airiam bangs her hand on the door "I wish I wasn't!"  Kehau says with a soft sad tone then she asks with a curious tilt of her head  "just how much was I right about?!"  and she hears Tilly reply "probably all of it!"  Kehau lets out a short soft chuckle as she hears Spock concur "the Sphere? it was.... it was dying it had a lot of data"  Tilly says as though she also figured it out "the messages to Section 31.... they contained data from the Sphere that's the data that Airiam downloaded before leaving"  she adds "what did she bring over here?"  Michael asks as Airiam kept pounding on the door while staring into Michael and Kehau's eyes "all the information the Sphere has ever collected on artificial intelligence"  Tilly replies "why would Control want AI data?"  Admiral Cornwell asks "a strategic advantage, perhaps that Sphere collected data from countless civilizations over hundreds of thousands of years"  Saru replies "that much knowledge.... whatever the problem you could never out-think it it would always win"  Pike says "oh, that's it it wants to think it wants to evolve that data's like a road map for Control to become fully conscious when it does...."  Michael says "it can destroy all other sentient life in the galaxy"  Pike finishes for her "yes that's what Spock saw in his vision I'll delete whatever she managed to upload"  Michael says then she turns and rushes towards another open door which closes once she reaches it and Airiam once again starts pounding on the door she was trapped behind "damn it I can't get it"  Michael says after trying to open the door "well don't look at me!.... I can separate myself from one form but that doesn't mean I have super human strength!"  Kehau teases Michael chuckles "can you delete the data remotely?"  they hear Pike ask "I can't access the system, and I definitely can't hack Airiam"  they hear Tilly reply "well then Tilly.... it's time to wake her up!"  Kehau says with a slightly sarcastic tone as she stares into Airaim's eyes and Airiam turns then starts to try and open the door she was trapped behind from the room she was in "huh?!"  Tilly asks slightly confused "what memories does she keep?!"  Kehau asks "I know her memory banks are slightly smaller than probably even mine so she must have to erase quite a few of the "boringly tedious" ones.... there must be someone she's more fond of than most others.... besides me of course!"  Kehau replies ending with a tease "of course!"  Tilly replies with a smile in her tone then she looks at Pike who nods then she says in her usually eccentrically nervous way as a channel is open to Airiam "Airiam, hi it's Tilly uh, just a friendly reminder that you saved every memory you ever had with me I think that's because you adored me and I adore you, too"  she chuckles then says "I'm gonna send you something whatever this thing is making you do, this is not who you are you are a.... a Starfleet Officer you're an amazing colleague, and you are a great friend and also, like, the best Kadis-kot player I've ever seen and I should know I won regionals when I was, like, 10 Airiam, this is not you please you know Michael she's your friend Airiam, I know you can hear me"  Airiam replies "I can hear you, Tilly! but I cannot stop myself its overriding my primary motor functions I was only able to transfer 25% of the AI data Control needs me to finish"  then she looks at Michael who had walked over and stood at Kehau's side taking her hand in hers for moral support and strength "Michael, you have to open the airlock immediately"  Airiam says with a sad scared tone "what? no! no, I'm not gonna eject you into space!"  Michael replies as though she can't believe her friend is suggesting that then she looks at Kehau "I can't do anything from this side! besides I don't know enough about her.... um.... system to.... I know about the Discovery because people taught me but no one taught me about her and how she functions.... which is basically a private manner anyway!"  Kehau says Airiam smiles a small smile as though she was telling her that she forgave her for her "error" and knew she was trying to be kind "I will unlock this door.... I will kill you, finish my mission then I will destroy Discovery and all on board will die please, Michael.... I can't to that to Kehau's kids!.... they have so much life yet to live!.... so much to learn and discover so please the airlock!"  Airiam says turning her attention to her other friend "we can fight this, Airiam"  Michael replies then she rushes back over to the other door and points her gun at it "Commander Burnham, what are you doing?"  Pike asks "the system corrupted her if I can break in, and.... and take it offline, she'll be free"  Michael says then she starts shooting at the door "Michael, stop"  Spock orders "I disabled my helmet I will not survive in space"  Airiam says "Commander Burnham open the airlock"  Pike orders softly "Captain, I don't want to disobey your orders, but if this works...."  Michael replies "it's her or you, Michael"  Spock says "isn't that the point?!.... the Michael I know would always put others before herself! do whatever she can to save those she cares about despite what may happen to her and the Airiam I know would do the same!"  Kehau says softly Airiam looks at her with a softness in her eyes then begs "15 seconds please!"  Pike orders softly once again "open the airlock, Michael"  Michael begs "one more minute! please!"  then she shoots at the door once more "you don't have a minute M and neither does she!.... the coldness is returning!.... I can feel it! and she can only fight it for so much longer!.... you haven't failed!.... either of you!.... I'm the one who's failed! I didn't act on my assumptions which just like a Vulcan thinks they are are usually correct when I could have and you all are way too fond of breaking the rules not to try to do something just because I have assumed!"  Kehau says softly with a sad tone and with a mix of a few teases (when she spoke of Vulcans and her ending words) "hey, Airiam, I'm gonna send you your favorite memory, okay? look at it"  Tilly says with sadness in her tone "I can't look at it now, Tilly Michael! you have no other alternative but to eject me!"  Airiam replies "Burnham, that's an order"  Pike orders softly Kehau looks at Michael and her eyes seem to ask her if she would like her to do it for her as she places her hand over the controls Michael shakes her head then jogs back over to them and places her hand over the one Kehau placed on the controls "I'm so sorry it wanted me to kill you everything is because of you"  Airiam tells Michael "because of me?"  Michael asks Airiam gasps "Michael, open the airlock"  Spock orders softly "please tell everyone I love them"  Airiam says as she gasps for air "you have to find Project Daedalus"  Airiam says "where is Project Dae...."  Michael asks as Airiam's body flies out of the now open airlock Kehau wraps her arms around Michael and hugs her lightly to her hiding her from the sight they both now have to watch "there was nothing you could have done!.... if you wish to hate someone then hate me!"  Kehau whispers into Michael's ear "I could never hate you!"  Michael replies with a smile "oh I don't know Spock might find it a little too easy.... if he tries hard enough!"  Kehau jokes Michael chuckles "we should get Nhan back to Discovery so they can reattach her cheeks so she can smile again!"  Kehau jokes and they hear Nhan's wheezing chuckle from behind them as she stands beside the airlock button "you can be a heartless bitch at times!"  Nhan says as she tries to breathe normally since she has to hold her breathing apparatus to her cheek "it's part of my charm!"  Kehau replies Michael laughs through her tears which start to pour down her face anyway "is there a way to bring her body aboard the Discovery?!.... we shouldn't leave her in the midst of space no matter what she unknowingly put us through!"  Kehau asks Pike as she stands by the room Airiam just flew out of "I will see what we can do"  Pike replies "this is one memory no one would want to keep!"  Kehau whispers in a soft low voice to herself Michael looks up at her then feels her friend gently wipe her tears away with her thumb and hears her say softly "let's get you home!"  Michael nods and Kehau says "Discovery two to beam up"  Nhan and Michael disappear in a beam of white light and Kehau fades away then ends up back in her quarters where she freely lets her own tears fall as she falls to her knees in sorrow and pain Hugh rushes over to her falls to his knees and hugs her tightly to him then asks "what's wrong?!"  she replies softly "Airiam's gone!"  he squeezes her a little tighter as her words sink in a little to quickly and hides his head in her shoulder
