Chapter 2: A Day In The Glade

I walked into the small ring, Gally was grinning at me mischievously. He explained the rules and we started fighting. "come on greeny, show me what you got" Gally spoke in a challenging tone. I swung my fist but he quickly grabbed my arm and flipped me over, I landed on the ground so hard that my head started throbbing. I brushed that aside and got up quickly, I put my leg out to trip him. He face planted into the ground with a lot of impact, "Still think I'm weak now?" I said in a confident voice. He stood up and immediately stared walking towards me with a look of anger in his eyes, "Your gonna regret that" he spoke in a harsh voice "nah, I don't think I will" I remarked.

He come up to me a struck me right in the face with his fist, the last thing I saw was Thomas shoving Gally to the ground and Newt and Jeff rushing over to me. Then I blacked out.

*Newts POV*

I watched Y/n fall to the ground in pain, I quickly ran over to her but when I got there she had all ready passed out. "You bloody idiot" I screamed at Gally, "I didn't mean for it to go this far" Gally pleaded. I rolled my eyes, Alby rushed over and demanded "Throw him in the pit" Minho and Thomas picked up Gally and brought him to the pit.

We brought Y/n to the medjacks and laid her down. I looked down at her beautiful brown hair and hazel eyes. 'Shes gorgeous' I thought to myself, she looked so peaceful. I couldn't help but stare at her beauty, she was so kind and gentle. I think I might be catching feelings for her. I mean who wouldn't, she was extremely pretty and had an amazing personality. You would be crazy if you didn't love her.

"We should let her rest" spoke Jeff. I nodded in agreement, and we walked out of the medjacks. I just hoped Y/n would be alright.

*Y/n POV*

I woke up in what I think was the Medjacks, Newt showed me it the other day on the tour. I suddenly remembered why I was here, Gally punched me in the face last night. I mean I can't blame him though, we were fighting and punching is fighting. I slowly got out of the bed that I was laying in, I walked out of the medjacks. 

"Hey Shank, how are you feeling?" Minho questioned. 'Shank?' "I feel okay I guess. What does shank mean?" Minho was about to answer my question until Thomas walked over to us. "Hi Y/n, How do you feel?" "Okay. So do you guys wanna tell me about this secret  language you guys have?" I demanded. 

They started explaining all of the slang they used such as shuck, clank, and shuckface. My favorite was definitely shuckface, I think it was Minho's favorite too because he used it a lot. he said and I quote 'you are the shuckiest shuck-faced shuck there ever was' in the sassiest tone I had ever heard. He was most definitely the sass queen. 

We went to find Newt, so that we could tell him I was awake. We passed by the pit, and I looked down to see......Gally? "Why is he in there he did nothing wrong" I asked. There was a moment of awkward silence until Thomas spoke "What do you mean? He punched you!" "yeah cause we were fighting, that's no reason to lock him up" I said calmly. Thomas and Minho looked at each other and then we continued walking, I rolled my eyes. 

We finally found Newt, he was talking to Alby about something. "Hey there Y/n, how ya feelin love" Newt spoke. 'love?' I liked when he said that. I looked into his gorgeous brown eyes, I couldn't help but notice how charming he was with his smile."Hey! quiet staring at Newt over there and listen alright?"Alby questioned I nodded in embarrassment. Newt looked over at me blushing.

"So if you were listening you would have heard me say you will be finding a job today" I hadn't really thought about the jobs but Minho told me about the runners, and they seemed interesting. He also told me that him and Thomas were runners so I could ask them stuff about runners and the maze. 

After a few minutes Thomas and Minho went off into the maze and I followed Newt to the gardens. He said "The people who work in the gardens are called track-hoes" We just kept walking.

*Newts POV*

We made our way to one of the gardens, "I think you fought well last night" I blurted out randomly. God i'm such an idiot, I should have asked how she was feeling. "Thanks" she said in soft voice.

She looked gorgeous with her brown wavy hair down. And with the way sun hit her, she looked like an angel. Yep. I'm definitely in love.

*Y/n POV*

I looked at Newt and the way the sun hit him, he looked like an angel. "So what are we gonna do?" I asked. "How about I show you where we get our fertilizer?" he spoke "sounds good" I replied. He grabbed my hand and I felt sparks fly. I think I loved him.

He brought us into the place the called the deadheads, It was surrounded by trees. When he finally stopped he looked down at his hand and mumbled a "Sorry" as he pulled his hand away blushing. I started blushing as well.

I looked around to see the beautiful landscape. "It's beautiful" I admitted, he smiled "well lets go find the fertilizer" he spoke 

*time skip*

We got the fertilizer and walked back to the garden. We didn't really talk on the way back, but it was kinda nice to have some peace and quiet. I couldn't wait till dinner, I was starving because I've been walking all day.

We finally got back to the gardens, and then it was time to head off to dinner. Me and Newt walked over to Thomas, Minho, and Chuck. "CHUCKIE!!!" I screamed as he hugged me, "I thought you died or something" he spoke, We all laughed. 

We talked and ate for an hour or so and then we made our ways to our hammocks, my hammock was between Thomas and Chuck's so I felt more comfortable. I took off my jacket so I was only in my tank top, I tucked my jacket under my hammock so I wouldn't lose it. I closed my eyes and fell into a deep sleep.
