Mason Woods, seated in front, checked his seatbelt against his collarbone and clutched onto his ebony backpack to his chest and peered through the mirror, staring at his dark-brown locks and pushed his bangs away from his eyes. Aiden was a good driver, but a fast one. He seemed to be under the impression that just because he was driving an older model of a truck or the stress through senior year, he didn't need to worry about road conditions.

It wasn't that Aiden was particularly concerned about the road condition.

"It's the key to murder that keep us going," Mason muttered.

"What?" Aiden asked, shooting a glare at Mason and slamming the gearshift to a stop. "What does that even mean?" He added.

"Those deaths two years ago wasn't the axe murderer's fault. Everyone got a suspension side that is hidden behind the bright sunshine and innocent side."

Mason slapped the trunks of the trees with his left hand as he ran past Jenna, a small ax held tight in his right. He struggled to breath through the flesh harden mask and as steam rose from his lungs. He twisted mid run, casting a lunatic look over a shoulder, He was sure he'd saw Jenna snapping at his heels, her hard black eyes glinting in the grayness of the morning.

He saw nothing--only thin swaying branches in the breeze, cutting into the cold breeze blue sky, drowning him in Jenna's shadow. But Mason knew she were there, hiding beneath a thick trunk of tree, hovering her hands over her mouth, trying not to make her presence known.

It wasn't like he wanted to gut and open up his sister's chest, but his insanity telling him otherwise.

"Mason! Snap out of it," Aiden said, his truck pulled up to their stop, Patchett High School. "We are going to talk about this at lunch."

Mason turned his narrow round face towards Aiden and gave him a 'whatever' look. He saw the long, narrow trombone case in the backseat and his heart began to beats through his chest. All of the rehearsals and late night playing, in the cool, warm night air. All those hours of practice until his hands and shoulders ached, until his head throbbed. All of the preparation came down in within five days.

He picked up his trusty backpack, slung it over his shoulder and clenched his trombone case tightly in his right hand.

His cell phone rang and with a small look, he drew an annoyance and worried look across his face.

'Hey Mas, you wouldn't like it if Aiden found out you were the axe murderer that took his precious sister? Wouldn't you? -MW'

Steam rose from his chest, third message in the same day and it's only 7:45. "Can't trust anybody. I can't trust anybody," he mumbled over his breath. He replayed his words over and over again on a staticky loop. He sprang to the cafeteria, the only spare time he got to see his friends.

Maybe they got a message too? Mason thought.

All of his friends were there at their usual table. "Hey Mas," Seb said, waved his hand as Mason took a seat next to his best friend.

" Bestie! You are here," Cora said, her eyes were glued to her homework, scribbling whatever she could think of. She wasn't smart.

"We are throwing a party this Saturday. Would you like to come?" Destiny asked. Her dark hair was pulled into a long french braid and her acrylic violet and orange nails danced against the laminate table. She kept her glare on Mason. "Mason?"

All four of them phone rang. They picked it up. This couldn't be happening, can't be.

I can't wait for the KILLER party. 6291 Evel Dr at 7pm. Be there ;) -XoXo
