"Fire my ass. Demilade leave me o."
"Why?! You no know that time wey you dey come disturb me. (Don't you know the time you usually come to disturb me). Common stand up, let's go. Adam will be back very soon." Demilade said.
"I have to finish this work. We need this project to be approved in Japan. Do you know how much money is in this? And our company will be able to have a partnership with japan investors."
"Yeah, I know. I know how important that is to anyone else. But I can assure you that we will have the government's approval. I met one Mr Yaki. He is a respectable man in the country with prestige. He knows people. And he has heard about us."
Fareed stopped what he was doing and leaned back on his chair to listen to his friend.
"And you didn't tell us that. The way you were talking at the meeting this morning, someone will think we will lose. So how do you meet this man?" He sounded amused and at the same time, he felt proud.
"We will discuss that over lunch. Let's go before you faint in my company." Demilade said.
He grimaced and he stood up.
"Hope we are having extra minutes for lunch?" He asked. "I am really famished."
"That is just like you. And yes. We are having extra time but we are eating in the company cafeteria." He answered and Fareed didn't protest and Demilade smiled. He guessed he was very hungry.
Fareed's phone vibrated on his table as he stood up to adjust his tie.
"Adam is already in the cafeteria." He said, checking the message sent by their friend.
"Common let's not keep him waiting." And they walked out of the office.
They met Adam talking on the phone when they got to the cafeteria. There was a wide grin plastered on his face. Demilade took a seat opposite him after patting him gently on the shoulder while Adam sat beside him.
"They are here now." He said to the other person on the phone.
"Here." Adam handed the phone to Demilade. "It's Charles."
"Why are you guys just coming for lunch?" Demilade heard Adam asking Fareed before he said hello to the caller.
One of the ladies working in the cafeteria walked up to their table. They knew that Demilade and his friends don't come to buy their food like the other staff. And they don't pay. Demilade handles the bill every week.
And that's for when they use the office cafeteria.
"Long time Mr Fareed and Mr Adam." The lady greeted them with a flirtatious smile.
"Yes o. No mind us. (Don't mind us)." The two men said and chuckles.
"What can I offer you guys?" She asked.
"Our usual." They chorused.
She grinned and nodded before walking away to bring their meal.
Demilade was still talking on the phone.
"..... Have you told Fareed? ..... So you guys had planned it behind me ..... I no vex (I'm not angry) ..... But it is a working day ..... Why don't you guys make it on a weekend ..... Don't Demmy me ..... You understand this ..... Fine ..... I'm agreeing to this because of you ..... No problem friend..... Tomorrow ..... " He laughed. "So they told you about that too? ..... Don't be angry. I've been busy lately ..... I'm sorry okay? ..... Thanks ..... Okay then. I will bring her along ..... Till tomorrow then ..... Say hi to popsy for me. It's been a long since I saw him ..... Alright then. Bye." And he ended the call. He returned the phone to Adam who was already munching his food.
