Deborah greeted him quickly and left him with his mother.

"Mommy Good morning." He greeted them and he attempted to kiss her cheek but she stopped him by holding out her hand.

"Mom, what is it?" He asked in Yoruba dialect. He can tell that she was angry at him.

"What happened between you and Lola this morning?"

"It's nothing mom. We will settle it." He answered nonchalantly. He doesn't want to even talk about it.

"You will settle it. That you were both yelling at each other and I saw her walking up the stairs crying. For God's sake Demilade what do you do to the lady?" She asked angrily.

"Mom, why are you always blaming me? I apologize to her last night and this morning she was getting angry at something unnecessary. What do you want me to do? She won't give me peace of mind. I can't necessarily give her everything she wants." He said. And he took a seat, obviously furious that his mother is also taking Lola's side without knowing what happened.

Well, it's not that he can tell her.

"Demilade she is your girlfriend. At least try to be considerate. You've not had a girlfriend for some time now and you've finally gotten one and you want to chase her away. That girl is not bad. I don't know what your problem is."

"You know that is not true mom. I had other girlfriends before her. And she can't give me a heart attack." He lied.

"Will you shut up Demilade?" She cried. She was tired of her son's attitude. Deborah had reluctantly told her about the constant argument between Lola and him. And she told her he is always acting arrogantly.

"What is your problem Demilade? Do you want to remain a bachelor for life? I want to have grandchildren Demilade. And what you are doing is not helping. Look at your best friend. He is married and already has a kid. You are wealthier than him. What do you want me to do to make you understand that you are not a kid anymore? What has the woman done to wrong you?" She lamented. And he looks at her. Why did she say that?

"You keep pushing them away. And now you want to do that with Lola. What wrong had the girl done? She left her work, family and life just to be close to you, to spend time with you and this is how you repay her love."

"Mom you don't know anything about our relationship." He said calmly.

"Then tell me Demilade. Tell me. Do you think I don't know about your pride and your arrogant attitude to people?"

"That's not true mom. Who told you that?"

"So what is the truth? That you are only arrogant to women that are your girlfriend. Have asked you times without numbers if you were straight and you told me yes. So why the attitude Demilade? Don't let me get angrier than I am right now. You won't like it." She warned him."Make sure you swallow that stupid pride of yours and apologise to that lady or you won't like what I will do." She said.

And she walked away in the direction of the stairs. Demilade knew she was going to Lola's room.

His mother had begun to know about things he don't want her to know. He had to behave himself. He hates to worry his mother and he hates it when she is mad at him. It rarely occurs but when she does, she hates how she behaves toward him. And her anger can make him hate himself.

If apologizing to Lola will make his mother forgive him, he will have to do it. Not like he did anything wrong. Lola is the one at fault. She forgets who he was and what he can do to her and her family. It doesn't take him anything to end the deal and also fired her father as his driver. And he would make her learn who he is the hard way. Because she had gone so far as threatening him and yelling at him. Which she had no right to do. She is no one compared to who he is. And he could let her know that.
