"Ma did he ever have a girlfriend? You know Demilade doesn't open up too much." Lola asked curiously.

"I don't know. He never talks about a girl and I haven't seen him with a woman. Except for a childhood friend that they were so close. But I don't know if he had anything with her. He never told me about it. And since then I never see him with any woman. I know he had to work and study at the same. He was so determined to succeed. So we let him be." She answered truthfully.

Lola listened to the woman. She just knows a few things about Demilade. Who could have thought he was not born into wealth? His speech and his behaviour all radiate wealth. But why did he have to treat her like some dirt like he had not been in that situation before?

But at least she now knows why he wants the deal so badly. His mother has never known him with any woman and he wants his mother to stop disturbing him about one which is why he came up with the stupid idea.

But what is he afraid of? Why doesn't he have a girlfriend? Is he truly not straight as his mother thought?

But he doesn't look gay a bit. She knows how gay behaves. There was one of Ibukun's friends that is gay before he moves to the state.

So why does he have to distance himself from women? Is he hiding something? They got to be a reason why. Lola thought to herself.

Demilade arrived quite early and Lola thought it has to be because of his mother. And that was it. He had cancelled all his evening meetings and left work early to at least welcome his mother.

When Deborah opened the door for him, she greeted him and took his bag away. He went to embrace his mother and greeted her. She grinned at him and answered his greeting.

She loves her son. Lola noticed.

When he finally noticed Lola in the room, she muttered welcome and stood up.

"Mommy O da ro (Mommy Goodnight)." She said.

"Are you going to bed already?" The woman asked surprised. And she looked between her son and her.

"Yes, ma. I am already tired and I still want to call my dad. He ask me to call him this night when I am done with what I am doing. So I don't want to keep him up. He goes to sleep early." Lola lied.

"Okay. If you say so dear. Goodnight. Olorun a ji wa re (May God wakes us safely)." She said in Yoruba.

"Amen. Goodnight ma." She said again and she walked away without another glance from Demilade.

They watched as Lola walked away and Deborah appeared.

"Sir, your food is ready. It's been set on the table." Deborah said.

"I'm coming." He said to her.

"Go eat Demilade. I will wait for you."

"Mommy you need to go and sleep. You don't have to wait for me. You must be tired."

"It's fine. I'm not so tired. Stop acting like I am some old woman. And I still want to watch the nine o'clock news before going to bed." She told him and he reluctantly nodded. And he went to take a shower before coming back downstairs to the dining to eat his food.

When he finished eating his supper, he went back to the living room where his mother was watching soap operas. He took a seat beside her and put an arm around her shoulder.

"You've finished eating? " She asked and he nodded. "So how was work today? Hope it wasn't so stressful?"

"I'm managing but it isn't too stressful." He answered. "What did grandma go to do in Abuja or where did she go to again?"
