𝟑𝟎 𝐃𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐥

~~ 13. ~~

Day 7

             They went to church together the next day. They left early in the morning to attend the first service which lasted three hours. The service was okay. She was grateful he was a religious man. He seems to be a regular attendant of the church.

             Even in the church, he seems to command a lot of respect for his age. Everyone looked at him in admiration and respect. He didn't even have to force it. His signature smile sometimes does the work. And it makes Lola wonder why he seems to be nice to everyone else but not her. Although they were a few people he showed distaste for but it is worst around her.

           It is like he can't stand around her.

           They went to a birthday party immediately after they left the church. She learned it was Bayo's elder brother's birthday party and she get to meet most of his family. They were nice like him and they welcome her with open arms. They treated Demilade like a family member.

            During the party, Demilade was having constant messages and calls he ignore from a number unknown to Lola.

"What's wrong? Why are you not answering your call?" Lola finally asked him.

          She didn't want to meddle at first but she can't just keep quiet forever.

"I have another place to go." He reluctantly answered.

           She nodded. At least he answered. She knew the problem was he couldn't leave Bayo's brother's party because of the next event. He felt it is an obligation for him.

          Bayo approached them with his wife.

"Dewale had been calling me." He said to Demilade.

"Me too. Even Prince had been calling me. I have forgotten that today is Dehinde wedding." Demilade said and he sighed.

"They expect us to be there," Bayo said.

"We can't leave your brother's party." He said to him.

"You should go. I will help brother Seyi and his wife here." Helen said.

"Okay. He will understand. Just go and tell him you are leaving." Bayo advises his friend.

"Alright. But the party should be over by now."

"We will meet at the after-party," Bayo said.

             And after saying goodbye to the family members, they left the party with Bayo promising to meet them there. And they went back home to shower and change their clothes.

            Lola changed her dress into a comfortable short black gown. It was one of the clothes Mrs Bakare and the lady attendant at the shopping mall had chosen for her. It was slightly below her mid-thigh and it has a tiny strap which goes to the back forming an X shape at her back. It has some stones scattered on it. It also has a corset that fits her breast perfectly. She still wonders how they knew the clothes will fit her perfectly. And the gown goes well with the long expensive hair extension on her head. And she wore a black lace jacket on it to cover her exposed back and arms.

          She had dressed in something simple since it was an after-party and it was already late.

          And they left off to another venue.
