I leaped away and snarled as a mutt sailed through the air, landing solidly against my ribs. I toppled, the mutt's fangs snapping, spittle flying everywhere as my paws dug into its chest, keeping it at arm's length.

Sasha howled and I tipped my head, exposing my throat to the mutt above me. She fought tooth and nail, one mutt digging its teeth into her hip and another nipping and dodging before she had a chance to attack. I growled and arched my back, pressing my hind paws into the stomach of the mutt.

If I could just get to Sasha-

Teeth dug into my ear, the loose black skin ripping. I howled in pain, feeling the flesh shredding, blood pouring down my furred cheeks. My blood warmed, pain flooding down my cheek as claws raked the sensitive flesh.

My fucking ear.

I flailed, claws digging into the soft flesh of the mutt's chest and meeting the bone beneath. I pulled, feeling flesh bunch between my toes and curl around my claws. With a harsh drag, I ripped and tore, teeth snapping at its ankles. Blood dripped onto my fur.

Everything burned. My skin, my blood, my ear. I growled as I pushed upwards, fire in my veins, and sent the mutt flying with a strength I didn't know I had. The moment I began scrambling to my feet, another was on me. Then another. And another.

Sasha was in pain. I could feel it at the base of my neck, a humming, throbbing pain that wasn't mine. Her jaws were coated in slick blood, a nasty wound on her hip matted with blood and spit. And still, she fought. I dragged myself forward, shaking my body which must have been at least double the size of my attackers in an attempt to ward them off. They persisted, teeth pulling at my skin and clamping on whatever joints they could reach.

With a roar, I twisted over my shoulder and gripped an assailant by the back of its neck. The beast yipped in fright, its legs lifting off the ground as I thrashed my head, tossing it into its neighbor. The pair went tumbling, their companion leaping onto my back to continue the charge. I shook out my fur before it could latch on, feeling its claws slip from my back.

I pounced on the back of one of Sasha's attackers, crushing the much smaller skinwalker into the ground. Teeth gnashed and claws flew as the thing scrabbled, fighting in vain to escape my claws that dug in between each rib, holding it in place. Foreign fangs latched into the back of my thigh, meeting almost entirely plush fur and skin. I howled as it ripped and stifled my pain by burying my fangs in the mutt beneath me.

Sasha hissed and barreled into the Sarabi at my thigh with such viciousness that I was sure she would shred the beast if she could. It snapped at her as she plunged her fangs into its foreleg, its shoulder, its neck. She was too quick for it, swiping out with a paw that met its muzzle anytime it advanced.

Her triumph only lasted a few moments before a wiry mutt sailed over the Sarabi and crashed into her paws first. I howled as teeth latched once more onto my leg, a swift kick only deterring it for a moment.

My blood burned, and my skin flushed with rage and pain. My eye fluttered as blood dripped into it, sight growing limited as the seconds passed. I arched my back and sank my fangs into the beast beneath me, just below its skull. I crushed, clamping down and feeling blood rush between my jaws, bones cracking. The thing howled, its lower half going limp, just begging for the pain to end. My jaws left their flesh with a sickening pop, blood welling up and pouring out of the grooves.

Without pause, I twisted on the Sarabi and clenched my jaws around its hips. It yelped as its fangs were pulled from my leg with a sudden ripping noise and was flung into Sasha and her attacker. I flew, paws barely touching the ground as I crashed into the trio. Howls and bays filled my ears, not drowning out the fury I felt in my veins.
