Back at his home:
"Marcus! The funeral starts in twenty minutes we need to hurry up," called his mother,Catherine.

"What is the point. He was never an actual father to me, why should I pay him my respects. It doesn't matter if he gave me his company because I just wanted his company ...a father and son company," Marcus said flopping down on the couch.

His mother looked at him and shook her head saying, " Look... I know he wasn't the best father but I do know that he loved you no matter what and I guess the company was the best thing he could have given you in his absence-"

"He could have given me his love!, that is all I ever wanted" Marcus interjected.

His mother sighed and sat next to him giving him a hug. He hugged her in return " thanks mom," he said. "He loves you I hope you know this." She said.

"I don't know if I do, " he said.

There was a pause, then looking at the time she sprung up and said, "We better hurry we wouldn't want to be late."

'The funeral was held at the Bayfield Catholic Church"

They arrived and the funeral was about to begin. As Marcus and his mother was heading to the front row Marcus bumped into a woman in a lovely black, laced shoulder dress and a veil hat covering most of her identity.

"Oh pardon me ma'am," he said trying to get a look at her face but it was unsuccessful and all he saw were her lovely blue eyes and she replied without stopping, " No problem." Her voice was calm and melodic something he couldn't forget

He gazed as she walked away. Her walk was confident and in charge but it showed that she was still gentle and kind-hearted. Her hips swayed to the beat of a gentle piano piece and his eyes traced down to her legs stopping at her beautiful red shoes. Her shoes had a bow on the front and it sparkled in the light. Then his mother called him snapping him out of her trance. He rushed to his mother and sat down next to her.

"What took you so long?" His mother asked

But he was at a loss for words and he kept wondering who that woman was. "Oh um....i...I don't know?" He said

" Well we'll talk about it later," she said.

Then the funeral began and finished overtime and as they exited the church, Marcus couldn't stop thinking about the woman in the Red shoes. Then he saw her walking outside. Since his mother was talking to someone he rushed outside to follow the woman. But she disappeared amongst the crowd. He sighed heading inside the church to get his mother. They both soon journeyed home, Marcus was deep in thought whilst driving and then his mother asked, " What is wrong my dear?"

But he didn't answer. So she asked again this time raising her tone. But he still didn't hear her. So she decided to wait till they got home. Ten minutes later they were home. When Marcus parked the car his mother asked sincerely " My boy what is troubling you?"

He turned to her and said, " There was this mysterious woman at my father's funeral and all I can remember is her voice, her walk, her lovely red shoes and her beautiful blue eyes." He then described the situation to her more in depth and suddenly his mother burst with laughter. He turned to her confused.

" What's so funny?" He asked. His mother turned to him and said " It sounds like a Cinderella story to me." He then looked away and forced a little laugh. Then she looked at him in a more serious manner and said, " Listen my boy, you will find her. I promise. It is a small world after all."

He looked at her while she left the car and said " I'm just gonna clear my head I'll be home soon." She nodded and went to the house. Then he drove off. His mother said at the doorstep " You will find her" and she went inside.
