"The voicemail thing.. We're soulmates." Darryl said, Zak hugged him immediately. Darryl returned the hug even though he was shocked.
"I know." Zak said, starting to tear up a bit. This whole time, he's been focusing on Dave because he was someone he always looked up to and thought he was perfect.
And now that he thinks about it, Clay was perfect for Dave. Both cocky in what they do best. Dave was the god of PvP and loved fighting with orphans, Clay was good at speed running, also good at those big brain plays, and they both had 500 IQ.
They both had a passion for what they did best, and Zak couldn't stop them from doing that. He didn't want to ruin Clay's chances with Dave, and it was a part of the soulmate system.
He was supposed to go with his soulmate, the one person who would make him happier than anyone else could. And Darryl could do exactly that for Zak.
Different version!
Clay got his phone and tapped on the voicemail, looking at Zak and Dave to see if they were nervous too. They were, more than him perhaps.
He closed his eyes out of nervousness and was scared to see who it would be, then he heard a familiar voice come through the phone.
"Isn't that Dream? Oh well, he's probably busy. But.. He's cute."
Clay's breathing quickened as he heard the voice, he got up and grabbed his keys, everyone wondering where he was going.
"Clay? What are you doing?" George asked, Clay turned around with a huff. He looked so annoyed but so happy.
"I know who my soulmate is." He said, "The voice. I recognize it so well." He played the voicemail, and everyone's eyes widened.
"Is that Sapnap?!" Darryl asked, Clay nodded and rushed out the door before he could answer anymore questions.
Dave looked at Zak and shrugged, he turned on his phone and looked at the voicemail. It was an unknown number that he didn't recognize, he tapped on it and let it play.
"He's better looking in person than video chat.." Dave blushed and looked at Zak, he knew that voice all too well. Zak rubbed the back of his neck our of embarrassment. He used his other hand to press and play the voicemail.
"He's so adorable, no one can actually deny." Dave looked down in embarrassment and Zak giggled at this. Every stared at them intensity.
"But.. Clay was flirting with Dave?" Darryl said, Zak shrugged.
"He always does that. With anyone, really." Vincent said, all of them understood but didn't understand Clay's mindset.
"Good luck to him though." George said, everyone agreed as Dave and Zak smiled at each other. Blushing as they talked.
A different different version!
Dave sighed and gestured for one of them to play the voicemail. Zak shook his head, in fear of having the person he didn't want.
Clay huffed but turned his phone on, his finger hovering over the voicemail. He was hesitant, he wasn't sure if Dave was his soulmate, if Zak was, or even goddamn Darryl.
He pressed on it and closed his eyes as if it hurt him to play it.
"He's taller than I thought and pretty cute too. Oh shit, he's probably flirty…"
"..... Clay? I thought.. Better looking than the photo on Twitter…"
Clay's face went into confusion, Dave and Zak saw this.
"What happened?" Zak asked, Clay put down the phone and made it louder. He played it, only to play Dave's voice overlapped Zak's voice, in which Zak's voice was cutting in and out.
"Does this mean we're all soulmates?" Dave asked, Clay shrugged. He felt a little tap on his shoulder and looked up to see Mega. Mega gave him his own phone, showing a writing about the situation.
Dave is the one meant for you. His voice overlapped Zak's voice, which means he is the one who you are destined to be with, and for Zak too. But Zak is the one who's soul isn't compatible with yours. That's why his is cutting in and out.
Clay opened his mouth in shock and showed Dave. He was anxious for what Dave would say, but then Dave just looked surprised and gave the phone to Zak, who was awfully curious.
"Then what about yours?" Zak asked, pointing at Dave. He gave the phone back to Mega and everyone looked at Dave.
Dave just shrugged and played his voicemail.
"The one and only blood God is here, I'm going to be anxious the whole time I'm with him.."
"Holy shit…. Than I expected."
Dave heard this, and Clay put a hand over his mouth. His flirting had gotten him somewhere for once.
Clay's voice had overlapped Zak's voice. Zak's voice was cutting in and out, in which Zak frowned in disappointment. He wasn't going to be Dave's exact soulmate, but it was something. He was grateful he at least had something to do with it.
"Zak?" George said, Clay and Dave gestured for him to play the voicemail. Zak bit his lip and pressed it, playing the sounds of sentences being cut out.
Zak felt tears come to his eyes, why did this happen to him out of all people? Why was Dave and Clay destined to be soulmates and he was the third wheel? Why did he have to suffer with this?
"Zak is so…. Damn cute and… Short."
"... He's tiny! Aha 5… old…"
They could all hear Dave and Clay's voice cutting out, none exactly overlapping each other at all. Both took turns switching, meaning he was basically the third wheel.
He looked at Dave and Clay, who both looked worried for Zak. They all felt bad for him. Zak got up and ran to his room.
He couldn't believe that he was the third wheel.
