Derek nodded, he held the gaze for a moment, almost like he was going to say something else, but he turned around and jumped down onto the lawn. I sat down next to the window and I watched him make his way over to his car. A smile grew my face as I noticed that the scent of cologne was lingering. He got in his car and drove off, and I sat there for a moment watching it leave, before I turned my attention to the rising moon.

The aftermath of my conversation with Derek left me smiling all through the first few periods of school. Though it wasn't something major, just a simple conversation, it made me feel special, but I couldn't tell why exactly. I was walking down the halls and I saw Scott talking to himself, but he looked like he zoned all the way out.

I got through my classes with relative ease, though I had to avoid a few questioning looks from Lydia, but I plan to tell her when there's something to tell.

Lunch soon came around, Lydia and I made out way into the cafeteria to find Allison with this old looking book. She looked so intent on what she was reading, but my attention was slightly distracted by Scott and Stiles who were sitting across from us, trying and failing to not act suspicious.

"The what of who?" I heard Lydia ask Allison, so I shifted my attention back to the girls,

"The beast of Gevaudan. Listen. "A quadruped wolf - like monster, prowling the Auvergne and south Dordogne areas of France during the year 1764 to 1767. La Bete killed over a hundred people, becoming so infamous that the King Louie the 15th sent one of his best hunters to try and kill it." Allison told us as she read from the book she held,

"Boring," Lydia said with a wave of her fork,

"Even the church eventually declared the monster a messenger of Satan," Allison added,

"Still boring," Lydia said with hum,

"Cryptozoologists believe it may have been a subspecies of hoofed predator, possibly a mesonychid," Allison continued,

"Slipping into a coma" bored," Lydia said sounding disinterested and I only chuckled at her,

"While others believe it was a powerful sorcerer who could shape-shift into a man-eating monster," Allison said and a lightbulb flashed in my head, as i started to realise what she was talking about,

"Any of this have anything to do with your family?" Lydia asked as she ate more of her food,

"This. "It is believed that la Bete was finally trapped and killed by a renown hunter who claimed his wife and four children were the first to fall prey to the creature." Allison told us before she paused, and we waited for to continue, "His name was Argent,"

"Huh? I guess killing animals runnings in the family blood," I said to her, Allison glanced at me and I quickly made an excuse, "my aunt told me about how your dad shot the mountain lion,"

"Your ancestors killed a big wolf. So what?" Lydia questioned,

"Not just a big wolf. Take a look at this picture," Allison turned the book around to show us, and the image alone made my skin crawl, "What does it look like to you two? Leo? Lydia? Guys"

"It looks - like a big - wolf. See you in History," Lydia said before she gathered her stuff and walked away,

"I think it looks like a grey blur with red eyes," I said with a shrug and Allison looked back at the book, "I'll see you later,"
