"Tay, you're acting stupid. Just come and open it already." My best friend Simran said. She was currently sitting cross legged on my bed in a summer Tee and PJ shorts with her dark hair tied into a messy bun, my laptop in front of her. I was pacing around in my room, too scared to open the mail.
It was 10:00 am and I had just received a mail from my dream university. I have already received an acceptance letter from 2 other too and they are really good but I wanna go where my mom and dad did.
"Please Sim, open it for me. I can't." I said increasing my pace.
"Ok. But you're freaking out too much. Just relax okay? And just know that even if you don't get in, it doesn't mean...."
"Please just open it." I interrupted her. The anticipation was killing me.
"Um..okay." she said and clicked on it.
For a moment, she didn't say anything. She was just sitting there staring at it.
"What is it? Sim, say something. Simran! I didn't get in did I? Oh my god! What will I even...." I could feel the tears filling my eyes.
"No. Shut up. It's not that..... you got in Tay. Um.... with 70% scholarship." She said dumbfounded.
"What?" I exclaimed turning the laptop around.
Congratulations. You have been accepted.....
I didn't even bother to read the entire thing. I screamed with joy. Literally shrieked. "OMG Sim I got in!! I'm going to my dream university! I can't believe it!"
Simran literally got up and jumped on my back screaming "yayyyy" knocking both of us down. I was chocking underneath her weight but we were both laughing our butts off. I had never felt happier before. I was just so excited.
Listening to our screams, my mom came running up, with a spatula in her hand.
"What happened!"
Then she saw us and her fear filled face turned into an eye roll. "Jesus! Girls you scared me. Why are you so loud?" She asked us.
I picked up my laptop and placed it in her hands. Her eyes scanned the screen and her lips started trembling. She instantly hugged me as a few tears escaped her eyes.
"Oh my god T, you got in baby. I'm so happy for you." She said.
"Yeah mom. I did. I'll be going where you and dad first met." I said giving her a broad smile.
After I placed my laptop back on the bed, Simran screamed, raising her fists in the air "let's celebrate woman!"
