Fading Beauty

Even if I'm not beautiful, I'm perfectly made,

So my joy won't leave with fading beauty because it never stays,

But underneath this fading beauty, my eternal beauty abides,

So because it's fading beauty, it's also my disguise,

So look into my eyes, what do you truly see,

Is it the fading attractiveness outside or is it the heart of me,

I won't be disguised by how the mirror lies,

Or waste anymore time trying to fulfill a dream that was never mine,

I won't aim to meet the expectations of this world,

"Put on a skirt, cross your legs, you are a girl,"

What lesson can beauty teach if it won't reflect how I live,

I can be pretty, I can polish my nails, I can even put on heels,

But what happens when I can't walk in these heels anymore,

When I realize I'm no longer a ten, but I'm a four,

When a skirt no longer compliments my frame,

And people gossip saying she doesn't look the same,

When my hair turns white and my back begins to hurt,

Will I lose my joy along with this beauty, or will I see my worth,

So even if I'm not beautiful, I'm perfectly made,

So my joy won't leave with fading beauty because it never stays,
