Chapter 34: Race To BloodClaw

Start from the beginning

Xerous listened off on the side as his brother gave brutal and merciless commands for the fugitives captured. His once serious then reverted back to the sly smirks he usually has expressed on his face. Oh man, did he love death and violence.

"...we move out now!" Demos gave the final order. The Warriors wasted no time bowing to their Alpha and making their way to the ship.

Xerous stood off to side enjoying the warriors scramble in fear at his authoritative voice. The smirk on his face dropped a bit at the thought of his little brother having so much influence over these lycans. 'Why did you not choose me?' He thought.

The sound of footsteps approaching his side caught his attention from his thoughts. "Xerous." He looked to see Demos now standing beside him arms folded over his chest. "Alert the alpha of Bloodclaw of my arrival and tell him to close off the borders of his territory." Demos ordered him.

Xerous tightened his fist a bit before loosening it. "Yes, brother."

Demos nodded his head then moved away from Xerous toward the ship with two guards behind him.

A groan was heard amongst the group by Katherine's side over some of the soft snoring of sleepers around her. She turned to see Bethany stretch and pop her back. "I'm so hungry." She mumbled. Just the mention of hunger caused Katherine's stomach and to growl.

Katherine let out a sigh as she propped herself up against the wall. "Yeah...I'm a bit hungry myself." She said, rubbing her stomach. It's been a while since she had anything to eat. She didn't even have any of the refreshments served at the Winter Moon Festival.

"How long has it been?" Bethany asked, referring to the time being stuck in this ship. Katherine just shrugged her shoulders in response. "It shouldn't belong. I've seen ships move and they move fast." Katherine replied.

"Yeah...but, I bet none this big."

Katherine looked over at Bethany. "Yes, we have. The day those things came to our world over five years ago."

Bethany looked away from Katherine down to her sleeping cousin, who just recently fell to slumber, in thought. Her face contorted some as she seemed to be in thought. Most likely thinking of the day when her world along with everyone else' turned upside down.

"If that's the case we all need to be prepared to get off once this lands," Bethany replied, looking back over at Katherine.

"No doubt there will be lycans everywhere once we land," Katherine said, turning her body to face Bethany.

"I think we need to wait around and watch for all the commotion of workers to die down," Bethany suggested, but Katherine didn't answer. She continues to think in concern of what was their next move once they landed. Katherine looked around the ship in the thought of what the group was going to do until something came to her. "What about the crates?" Katherine said looking at Bethany.

Bethany looked at her confused. "What about them?"

Katherine glanced at the crates then back at her. "What if we hid in the crates?" Bethany raised a bewildered brow at her. "...temporarily."

"You want to hide in the crate?"

Katherine and Bethany both turned to see who was speaking to them. John. He stared at them in curiosity about the content of their conversation.

Katherine glanced at Bethany and then looked back at him. "Yeah, I think that is the only place we can go to. I have a feeling it is going to be chaotic with workers running around unloading crates."

"Yeah, I see where you are going with this, but I see some flaws in that suggestion," John stated. He then stood making his way over to us and took a seat next to me on my right since Dallas slept on the other side of me. "For one, thus crates are shut tight. How will we get them open? Also, what if the crates get separated?"

Katherine looked away from him in thought. Now thinking about it the logic behind it is not realistic. Katherine felt her face burn a bit in embarrassment for suggesting something like that. How can she be so stupid?

John sighed. "The only thing we can do is stay alert for the ships landing and find a good hiding place when this area does get a little busy. We need to wait and be patient for the right moment to exit the ship."

Katherine nodded her in agreement, yet she feared that it may not be enough for them to get off the ship safely without being captured. They need a way to get off the ship without being seen or heard. She knew they need to figure it out fast because she had a feeling their time was running out.
