#2 - Mal's Mental Breakdown

Mal's POV

'Ok I think I've got everything' I say to myself as I grab the basket of food I had just transformed from a plate of sandwiches and milk and head to where Ben said to meet him

"Hey, Mal" I hear Ben say as I cross the bridge to a little island with a table and chairs

"Hey" I say as he kisses me on the cheek

I set everything out and we sit down

"Would you like a hot hors d'oeuvre?" I ask him picking up one of the many food I "made"

"Yes, please" he says so i hold it close to him and he eats it from my hand

As he's eating his eyes close and he says "mmm. This is the best thing I've ever had"

As wave of relief washes over me because I actually managed to pull this off and he doesn't suspect anything

"So you like it?" I ask

"I more than like it." He says reaching over and getting really close to my face "I, uh...mmm double like it"

As he puts another hors d'oeuvre into his mouth and sits back down he spots another on the table

"Is that beef ragout?" He asks

"Yea" I answer not really knowing what that is

"This is amazing" he says in shock

"Did I surprise you?" I ask just to make sure he likes it

"Oh, yeah, you surprised me" he answers putting a spoonful of that beef thing into his mouth "this is every single dish Mrs Potts made for my parents."

"What did it take you? Three days" he asks

"You know, don't even ask me" I say not coming up with a good enough answer to cover up everything as we both laugh

"Yeah well, it means a lot. That you stopped and did all this for me." He says as I start to feel a bit guilty "Especially with all the craziness you've been put through"

"I missed you" he says holding my hand as a smile "we don't get much time to be just us anymore"

"I know" I say before I wipe something off of his mouth and we both start to laugh

"You can't take me anywhere, right?" He jokes referencing our first date by the enchanted lake

I start to laugh at this before he asks something

"Do you have a napkin or something"

When he says that I realise I forgot to put them out

"I do. I packed some" I say bending down to where i thought i put them

"Oh there's some" he says grabbing them before I realise where they are

"I think I showed them away. I can grab them" I say going to grab the napkins on the side of the basket before Ben pulls out my spell book

"What's this?" He asks looking at my book

"I actually threw that in there super last minute in case it rained or..." I say trying to get him to ignore it but he still opens it and looks through

"Speed reading spell" he reads from the book "blond hair spell...cooking spell"

When he reads the last spell he looks at all the food and then looks at me before slamming the book closed

"And I was giving you props for fitting in so well" he says raising his voice slightly "for doing your best"
