The sound of crashing waves echoed throughout the quiet ocean air. The stars of the night sky above were reflecting off the clear water of the sea. The peaceful sounds of the open sea were cut short as a large bellowing voice rang through the air. "Lower the sails," screamed the voice as a large ship sailed with the breeze. The sails lowered as more wind stretched them farther, propelling the large ship forward. A large man was seen behind the wheel. He began barking orders to men and women scattered across the deck on this large ship. A young voice from far above the others could be heard shouting, unheard by the captain due to the loud crashing of waves nearby. "....orm inc...," was all the large captain could hear.
The young man began to climb his way down the main beam of the sails. "Captain! Storm incoming!" He shouted as he got into ear range. The captain looked to the left and saw massive clouds rolling in, worst thing that could ever happen to a pirate. He commanded his men to brace themselves as the storm would soon be upon them. Lightning struck the water on the left side of the boat, catching some of the wood. 20 minutes passed as the fire grew stronger, a large wave was headed straight for them.
The wave crashed into the ship, flooding the main deck. Pirates screamed left and right as they were washed away.
"Man overboard!" screamed the second in command as he watched half the crew disappear in the cold, unforgiving water below. Soon the another large wave crashed into the ship, and everything went dark for the captain.
The captain had been washed off the side of the boat with the other unlucky crew members. The Second in command took the helm and began to steer the damaged ship out of the storm, leaving the Captain and Crew to fend for themselves in the dark, unforgiving waters. The captain woke up, nearly 30 minutes later, finding himself stranded on an island with his remaining crew, or at least those who survived the waves.
"Captain Rogers, what shall we do?" a privateer asked the captain.
"We wait, Peter will find us once the storm passes. If he doesn't, there will be a price to pay." replied Captain Rogers.
Wulfric Rogers was a fair man, he wouldn't punish you for stupid reasons, but he always hated being pushed around or left behind. He was a strange looking man, he wore a longer brown overcoat, a red sash, a black tricorn hat, and his leather sword belt held 4 baldrics for his pistols. He pulled himself to his feet and looked around at the small group of men he had washed ashore with. These men look up to him, he is the great pirate Rogers, he must find a way to keep them safe.
"Alright men, we need to find food and shelter. Food comes first, I want groups of three to search the island." he declared, as all the pirates cheered. Each group of three set off, with their swords at the ready. He set off with the last group, searching for a place to set camp.
Peter Richards, Wulfric Rogers' second in command, continued to sail the ship away from the storm.
"Sir, we have to go back to find the captain!" screamed a crew member, as they got further and further away from Rogers and his men.
"It's no use, they are dead. We can't risk our lives for dead bodies!" screamed Richards. He was never quite fond of Wulfric, he was always second best when next to him. With the captain gone, he could finally do things his way. "Set sail for Tortuga. We'll be taking it back in honor of Rogers." he declared as the ship began to change direction.
Wulfric and his men had finally set up camp, they began to cook and told stories about themselves. Some told stories about what they wanted to do, some told myths about treasures, and some even told their life stories.
It was getting pretty late, but the crew had one final question. They all looked at Captain Rogers and asked him, why did he become a pirate?
"Well boys, it's a long story. It all started back in 1683 when I was born. I was born in the city of Tortuga...."
