your first day as an avenger was all but the piece of cake fury reassured you it would be. your car wouldn't start, causing you to arrive thirty minutes later then you were supposed to. when you finally did arrive the team happened to be very understanding, tony even offered to help by taking a look at the old piece of crap, tracing the problem to something you didn't quite listen to or happen to understand. your attention was caught by him. Captain america.
he didn't seem to notice you which didn't come as much of a shock. when he did he gave you a warm nod and introduced himself.
"hello, i'm Steve, and you are?" he extended a hand which you took after a second of hesitation
"hi, y/n. my name is y/n" you finally managed to stutter out. of course he didn't remember you it had been so many years since that day.
the day captain america saved your life.
"pleasure to meet you y/n"he smiled and continued to walk past, heading towards tony. a woman with long red hair led you up from the lab and towards an elevator. after the decently long ride she took you down a hallway, you stayed silent a good portion of the time, trying to keep all the emotions and thoughts together, doing everything in your power to not burst.
"alright here we are" she stated "so in the tower we have two bedrooms and a living room per floor. i know that sounds insane but its tony's money and it allows some privacy. this is yours and that's caps."
your breath hitched. staying on the same floor as your hero and celebrity crush? "i- thank you so much. i'm y/n" you smiled politely
"Natasha" she returned the smile. "what do you do?"
"its weird, no one in my family ever had powers but around the age of 7 i learned i can shift forms. i'm also decently good at hands on combat."
"wow a woman with many talents" smiled "anyways make yourself at home, come out whenever you're ready" she gave a small wave and turned on her heels.
i want into the room, my suit case dragging behind me as i open the door. i stood, my mouth agape, this room was more like an apartment rather than a room. there was two separate bedrooms, a master bathroom, a living room, and a balcony. i place my bags on the bed and step to the patio door.
i open it and see the city, its later in the afternoon and the sun is starting to set as the busy cities lights shine bright. you've never seen the city from this view. the sun, shone bright and you couldn't help but stand and stare at the beautiful view before you're eyes. the orange, pink, blue sky, peaking out from behind the tall towers and reflecting off the passing cars honking and rushing through traffic.
You grew up in Canada, orphaned as a teenager. you moved to Boston to live with your aunt and uncle, still learning the full range of your powers. a warm April day you were visiting New York for the first time in your life when terror reigned down. some man, green and powerful, tormenting the city. you had lost your aunt and uncle in the chaos and were stranded outside a cafe on the street.
unsure what to do, you saw the creatures in the sky and turned to run, before stepping on an uneven piece of sidewalk, tripping and spraining your ankle. you couldn't move, then you saw it, a car being flung by a giant green creature, you later knew as the hulk. the car was headed straight above you, doomed to fall right on you.
'ill see my mom and dad soon' you whispered as you braced for impact. the feeling of being lifted shocked you, but you didn't complain, the man holding you, running at full speed until you saw your aunt.
'(y/n)!!!!' she cried out as he placed you down next to her. the handsome, Dorito built man, wearing a spandex suit with a star and a shield.
't-thank you sir'
