When The Smoke Clears [FF Reno X Reader]

Part 2: Blood and gunpowder

"There's too fucking many!" You yell.

Hiding behind cover you hear bullets wizz by and crack your concreate cover.

"Gotta split them up! Tifa, Cloud. Get to the roof and deal with the stragglers on the way up. We're making our way inside."

"Aye Aye Capn" Tifa responds.

The Boss of these thugs was somewhere hidden inside at the higher levels. Leaving his goons to run the streets. At least 15 on ground. Probably 20 in the building and had to be at least 5 of his 'best' by his side. 5 had fallen so far since this started. Having to pick off a few select targets here an there. You were running low on rounds for your AWM and you knew you would have to get up close and personal soon.

"Fuck. Guys! I'm running low for long range! Yufie, Vincent. Any progress to report?"

Static on the coms.

"Yufie? Vincent? Respond!" You await a response.

The coms crackle to "5 more down! Rushing the back entrance! Exit clear!" You hear Yufie respond.

"Roger! Barrett? Report."

"Got a whole bunch of baddies here. 10 down! Had to ram a few on the way in! Rushing front exit now. Cover me!" He states.

"Roger!"

You scope the building adjacent to you as Reno rushes in with baton in hand heading for 2 thugs leaving the entrance.

'Gotcha!'

You fire your shot at a lone sniper in the window above.

'Lense flare gave you away bud'

'Gotta have a spotter somewhere'.

"Oh Fu..!"

A bullet wizzes past your shoulder grazing your armor. You retreat to cover just in time.

'There you are.'

Just northwest from the previous target you find another sniper.

'Found your buddy.'

"Reno! Watch out! Sniper northwest!" You yell to him.

Reno takes out the two thugs with ease.

"Gotcha!" He says.

While he turns to move to cover a thug appears behind him rushing him with a sword.

"Fuck! Reno behind you!"

He dodges the swing just in time as you line up your CQBR with the target quickly. You put two in his chest and he falls flat on his face coughing blood on the way down. Reno being in the splatter range wipes the misted blood from his cheek.

"Fucking hell (Y/n)! Watch the shirt!" Reno yells.

"Well I got him didnt I!?" You retort.

Coms buzzing on again.

"Got the first floor clear! Head on in!" Tifa states.

"Roger! Ground clear! Heading in." You respond.

You meet eyes with Reno. Both of you nodding in agreement. You both rush inside.

"Rude, Elena. Report."

Wondering why silence has been constant from their end you need an update.

"2nd floor clear! Rude took a slice to the shoulder but we got him patched for now!" Elena responds.

"Stay there. Backup is on its way." You respond.

The elevators being a bad option now you rush to the stairs with Reno in tow.

"On 3rd floor. Waiting at rendezvous point A. Rude and Elena just arrived." Barret comes over coms.

"Almost there." Tifa responds.

"Awaiting at Rendezvous point B for extraction with Cid." Yufie states.

"Roger. Everything set. One flight away." You respond.

"Hey (Y/n) let's make this quick now. I'm starting to get hungry and that dinner is sounding quite nice." Reno says.

"Same. Hopefully this is over quickly." You state as you open the final door to the destination.

"Glad you could join us!" Barret in a welcoming mocked voice.

Reno heads to check on Rudes injury while you discuss the final plans.

"Alright. We got everything ready? Bombs? Masks? Reloaded? All injuries patched?"

Agreeance from the group.

"All good then. Phase 2. Let's move."
