Project Iris is a survival reality show that follows the creation process of a new generation of K-pop artists. It was announced before the first episode that the debut group will consist of 7 members. The program will share the process of 30 trainees from various companies competing with and against each other. The final team will debut under AH Entertainment.
The show was created by AH Entertainment and is filmed and edited completely by the company, with no intervention from broadcasting company Mnet, despite the final broadcast being on Mnet's TV channel.
Idols Moon Byulyi and Lee Taeyong present the show, which is launched in August of 2020. Most of the mentors and producers are yet to be announced, however it is known that AH Entertainment's CEOs, Choi Jiseol and Eda Akina, will be present during the show.
According to the report, the show has been in the works for a number of months, and auditions were held from April 2020 around the world, targeting female applicants born between 2000 and 2004.
