"What should I do, what should I do, what should I do?" Vickie repeated in her head. Finally, she came to an idea. Even though she was a very sensitive girl and didn't like to hurt anyone, she'd rather get in trouble for hurting someone and be fine, than be hurt and still get in trouble when Rilee blames her that she started it. She kicked him in the balls as hard as she could. Surprisingly, he lurched forward, giving her a chance to run inside.
Once she shut the door, she leaned on the it and took a deep breath. Just in case he came back for more, she locked the door and ran to her room. Apparently her dad was still mad at her because he was in his room punching the wall. When he gets furious at her for doing something wrong, or annoying in his book, he makes Vickie work. He is very violent. But, she can tell that he tries his best not to get mad at her. But, he needs to try harder if he really wants to make her happy with him.
It's not that bad living with Landon. He gives her food, a room, a cat, he lets her go to swim, and he lets her go to school.
Landon really just treats Vickie like his daughter. But without a lady around the house, it's hard for him to handle it all. Also, he knows that people are looking for him and Vickie. So, he also has that on his back too. Vickie watched Rilee walk away. Trying to hold back her smile as she pet her cat, Leo. He is an orange, fluffy, cute, and funny kitten. Since Vickie only had her dad in the house, Landon got her Leo on her 14th birthday. She fell in love with leo." He's the best thing that's happened to me in a while" she thought.
Once Rilee was out of sight, she went back to her case. Vickie went outside and got the blue slip. Only to see her three best friends walking towards her. Phoebe, Nicholas, and Carl. They have been best friends since kindergarten and they all swim together and go to the same school. Sadly, they're all bullied by Rilee, Faith, and Kealyn. They looked at her with that " what did they do this time" face. They didn't have to ask what happened, Vickie immediately told them what happened. Then, Vickie told them how much the snow balls hurt, more than they usually do. And how she saw the blue paper on the ground. Finally, she went to get it and it was the plan of how they were going to throw the snowballs at Vickie. All of a sudden, she heard Nicholas yell, " come look at this Vic!"
She ran over to where the other three were standing in a circle liking at something that Nicholas was holding.
He said," This is why it hurt when they threw the snowballs, they're filled with rocks! Wow that's all they could come up with. With everything they've done to us, I expect more from them!" "Hey! Did you want them to hurt me more than they did ?!" Vickie said. " Whose shovel is that all the way down the street anyway? We saw it when we were walking to your house." Pheobe said. Vickie blushed and looked down at the ground. She didn't know why. "Mine" Vickie said sadly. " oh those....those" Carl murmured. "Let's not go to far with this Carl!" Nicholas said laughing.
Then, Vickie told her friends about the picture frame and newspaper she found in the garage.
Phoebe, Nicholas, and Carl are the only people that know that Vickie was kidnapped. But, Landon thinks she hasn't told anyone. He thinks that Vickie is too embarrassed to tell anyone about it.
"Oh... That makes so much more sense." Carl said i interested. "Well atleast he did it for a better reason than we thought." Pheobe said trying to find the better side of this situation. That's what Vickie liked about Phoebe a lot. she was very enterjetic, funny, and always made Vickie happy. "Well atleast he isn't abusing you. You know he's trying to give you a good life. Most people have it way worse. They're are inappropriately abused and killed in a day." Nicholas smartly said. They all laughed at him. "What!"Nicholas yelled. "You sounded smart for a second, dude!" Carl said still giggling at the previous remark Nicholas made. They went inside her house and to her room. Her dad came in his face red, observing the three friends he called Vickie outside into the hall.
Landon didn't like any of her friends. He thought Phoebe was annoying, and all he could say about Nicholas and Carl was that he didn't like that they were boys.
"He was just like a real father. Worrying about boys being around me." She smirked when she thought about that.
"Why do you have those three dorks in my house?" Landon scowled. "Because they're my friends, can't I EVER hang out with them. GOSH!" Vickie screamed, a little too loudly.
But what Landon was really scared about was that they were planning for an escape for Vickie. That's why he doesn't like her to be with her friends. He tries his best to keep Vickie away from them, but hey, you can't keep a girl from her best friends. That's just hard. He watched her turn around in the sassiest way she could and slam her door shut. He was about to kick the door down and yell at her, but he decided not to.
In Vickie's room, the four teenagers sat down on the bed silently. Phoebe, of course was the first one to break the silence. " You know he's trying his best." "I know but..." Vickie stuttered. Carl leaned over and patted her on her back.
