Chapter 1: The Prince's Mate [Part I]

"And now, a message from Her Highness, the 98th Empress of the Holy Rumerian Empire"

"Citizens of the Imperial State! Heed my warning. I shall severely punish all those who are guilty of breaking the taboo. Lord Alfred of the House of Grimster has committed one such prohibited act. He has attempted to oppose the 'Order of the Crown' by fuelling rebellion and protests against it. He and all those who oppose this shall pay dearly, for this is a matter concerning not you but humanity as a whole. Remember, I am always watching and I always know."

"My my look who came to visit me. Hello, love."

"I am always watching and I always know huh?, funny since you found out about this five days after it happened"

"Not even a hello huh..?, My dear I was more than aware of your whereabouts and doings. Let me remind you, I am your mother and I-"

"I don't care, I just want to know why you told me to come here, Mom?"

Aaron's mother couldn't help but feel annoyed at the behaviour of her child. It was however somewhat understood as Aaron's mother couldn't pay much attention to her child ever since the death of his father .

"Because, the Grand Ball will happen in 5 days, I want you to be there. It is about time you take responsibility Aaron, one day, some day, you will be Emperor and now is the best time for you-"

"Responsibility? I don't want it, give it to someone else I am tired of thi-"

"No, I am tired of this, you will go to the ball and you will socialize when you are there, this is all, you can leave now."

"I won't be there, good luck." Aaron said with a smirk.

"Oh? and who decided that?"

"I did"

"I believe not"

"Mom, I am not going to that damn bal-"

Aaron immediately began shooting daggers at the person who entered when the door opened, a man hurried in bowing before looking at the Empress and speaking :

"Forgive me your highness, we have found Lord Alfred, he is being held in the Diwan as we speak."

The Empress sighed before looking at Aaron, "Leave for now. What I have said is final. Be there on time and dress smart."

She then looked at the man "Very well, you may now leave" the man immediately bowed again and left and soon after the Empress followed suit.

Aaron sighed before leaving the room himself. He walked out of the Palace's main building and headed to its car park. There a car awaited him, Aaron got into the back seat and looked out of the window at the grand garden. "Where to?, your Highness" the driver asked even though he very well knew where he needed to go. "Oh, come on! You know exactly where we go now", "It was better for me to confirm, I apologize" the driver said with a smile while looking at the prince from the review mirror.

As the car drove through the streets Aaron watched his empire from the black-tinted window at his side. He was lost in his thoughts and then remembered about the Grand Ball that was to be held. He knew that he has to be at the event as Aaron was now 18, 17 to 25 is the age from which an alpha like Aaron will find an omega, an omega is considered being the second lowest in the social hierarchy of Rumeria however they are playing an important part in the world.

An omega is an alpha's soulmate, they both are destined for each other all omegas, both male and female can get pregnant which is something Aaron was sure his mother wanted, ensuring survival and continuation of the House of Magna was important, after all this was the house of the ruling family which has had complete sovereignty over Rumeria for ten-thousand years it could not end because of a lack of children fit for the throne. Decedents also had to be direct by being a child of the ruling monarch, brothers or sisters of the ruling monarch did not have a claim to the throne until after the child.

One may ask that a family ruling for ten-thousand years would have a lot of members, this however failed to happen due to the 'Royal Purge' less than five-hundred years ago in which almost all members who had the name of royalty were killed in a rebellion supported by the Diabolus Empire.

Aaron sighed, he knew his mother would want him there, after all he could find that special someone.

"We have reached our destination, my lord."

"Very well, thank you, I suppose you will wait for me here?"

"No, you did not bring any security like always, which is why I'll be there to ensure you are safe"

"I don't need a bodyguard"

"I know that, but her Majesty's orders are final"

"Of course mom had something to do with this"

Aaron opened the car door and left, he immediately headed into the café in front of him. This café was special however as Aaron had made many friends ( and sometimes enemies ) here, it was also where he went when he needed some alone time and besides it also had the best baked goods ever and that was saying something since the Imperial Palace had at least 30 chefs expert in cooking.

Aaron opened the door and was about to enter when he heard a voice nearing him, "Bye Sarah! I'll send you the next batch tomorrow, have a good da- oh s-sorry!" The person had bumped into Aaron and dropped a box he was carrying as he was not paying attention to what was happening in front of him. "Its fine, be careful next time" , the boy picked up the box from the floor and looked into Aaron's eyes, and at that moment both felt something they have never felt before...
