Bella sat on the white, velvet couch, running her fingers across the fabric. Her mind was wandering everywhere. Mostly she was paying attention to Renesmee, who was outside playing with her Aunt Rosalie. Her bronze curls bounced as she ran around. Bella laughed quietly. A scent that smelled like lavender filled up Bella's nostrils.

"Alice," Bella mumbled. Alice laughed. She plopped herself on the couch beside Bella.

"She's so..." Bella said, not taking her eyes of Renesmee. There were not enough words that Bella knew that could describe Renesmee. Alice smiled.

"She sure is something," Alice said. Alice purposely cleared her throat and Bella slowly turned her head towards Alice. "So...you know how there is two days until Christmas?" Alice asked.

"What's your point, Alice?" Bella hissed under her breath. She was not in the mood. She had a limited amount of time left before she had to make her decision about Renesmee.

Alice ignored her sass and continued with a jolly smile. "Well, I haven't finished Christmas shopping and I was wondering if you would like to come with me to the mall."

Bella sighed and half smiled. Alice was really trying. It was the least she could do. Bella moved some hair away from her face. "Sure," She said.

Alice squealed. "The car is ready, but before we go there is something we have to do with you." Alice pulled out a little box with brown contacts. Bella looked up at her. "Your eyes are red and we need to hide them. These contacts will irritate you at first, but you will get used to them. We will only be there for a few hours, so you shouldn't have to change them."

Bella stood up and nodded. She opened her eyes as Alice slid the contacts into them. Bella blinked furiously, trying to get them into place.

"How do I look?" Bella asked.

"Great. Remember, blink every once in awhile, move your shoulders to make it look like your breathing and try not to move too fast."

Bella nodded and followed Alice out of the door. She got into the passenger seat and buckled up. Alice quickly got in, buckled up and put the gear to drive, then backed out of the Cullen's driveway. The were speeding on the highway, doing 120 km per hour when Alice dropped the question.

"Do you remember how you were changed into a vampire?" Alice asked. "If you can't remember, that's fine. I couldn't remember either when I was first changed."

Bella turned her head and looked out the window. If she told Alice the truth, she would risk letting out why she was really here. Bella swallowed.

"I-I can't remember," Bella lied. Alice nodded and they sat in silence all the way to the mall.

Alice pulled into the underground parking lot and quickly parked her yellow Porsche. Bella got out and followed Alice into the mall. Bella inhaled and almost completely lost it. She could hear every heartbeat, and smell all the blood flowing through people's bodies. Bella clutched her fingers tightly to her side, trying not to lose it.

"Hold your breath. It helps," Alice said very quietly, so no human could hear. Bella took one last, unneeded, rattled breath and held it in.

Alice and Bella had been in and out of stores. Alice had even bought her a bunch of clothes, since she had none left. They walked into a store and Bella followed Alice when she looked through the racks.

"This place is a zoo," Bella said under her breath. People bumped into her and pushed her aside to get what they were looking for.

Alice pulled out something from the rack. "Go try it on," Alice demanded with a smile.
