It was the absolute strangest feeling, stepping through that portal! Immediately you are hit with heat that reminds you of the hottest summer day, and you frown back at the image of your couch and dark room as it all shrinks into nothingness. The man then lets go of your hand, expecting you to follow as he makes his way through the dead lands of death. The place, you can't put your finger on it yet, but you feel as if you nearly recognize the weird landscape, and odd flying ghost creature off in the distance. Looking upon the floating, jellyfish like thing, you see it turn to you, face stained under the eyes by eternal tears, a worthless frown upon it's face.
"Hurry up." The man urges. You look forward, seeing he is ahead of you in strides, making his way over the crevassed, dark red, like a bunch of large lava rocks now that you think about it, ground. You hurry forward, sweat already hitting your brow. Thoughts begin swelling in your brain. Thoughts of regret. Perhaps in just a few moments, you will wish you were dead. Pushing that down quickly, you stay alert, still wondering how some of this seems a little familiar to you. Then, suddenly.. it doesn't. Once you turn a corner, the land of steep cliffs and drops opens up into an ocean of lava. A beach greets it. One of dark grey sand. Bones litter, and stick out of the dark sand, being slowly swallowed up by the very beach they rest on. Gulping, finding you have a dry throat, you look further outward, at the massive man-made structure, which rises up from the beach, embedding itself into a massive cliff of deep red, and even climbing up and over it until on top of the cliff sits the bulk of the fortress, believe it or not, and even above that rise towers which grab hold of the realm's sceiling like immovable claws. The whole thing resembles a monster; a statement of power.
"What.. What IS this place?" You finally speak, breathing out into the dry atmosphere.
"I told you not to ask questions." The man stops abruptly, almost appearing to be offended by your question. But then he presses his hand to the brim of his nose as he pauses to think. "Hhh, this is my realm: The Nether. Um, this is my castle. Most commonly known as the Nether Fortress... And, ummm.. This is where you will be staying until you have finished your, mission, I guess you could call it." Wow, that was, uh, not the kind of answer you were expecting. Definitely wasn't the kind to like answering questions. That's for sure!
"Uh, okay.. What am I going-?"
"-JUst, save it for later!" He speaks rather harshly all of a sudden.
"Orrr, you could explain as we walk?" You hint at your idea with the extra inflection in your voice. Suddenly turning to you directly, the man glared worse than daggers at you. Face dark, you freeze. Oh no, you got too comfortable to speaking too quickly.
"Listen here, missie.. You are in my world now, and here, you will listen to me. If you so much as provoke me, I will have you beheaded where you stand." It isn't loud, but it doesn't need to be. You really are in "h, e, double hockey sticks" now aren't you? Your mouth tightens in a silent apology, lowering your head. The man hufs one last time before turning on his heel and walking forward. Oh, speaking of heel! You can finally see your escort in this land of the dead!
The man looks as if he is wearing solid, grey boots, which have what look to be built in armor where the joints don't need space to bend. His pants are also pretty simple. A plain dark blue color, darkened near the boots and wearing away a little as if singed a bit. Makes sense if he lives in such a place I guess. Overlapping the pants is a semi tight, dark blue shirt, which appears to have been awkwardly sewn together by dark-er blue thread. His height wasn't an illusion before either. He towers over you by at least a foot. At least, now, you actually can see his hair, which is a strictly cut short, only allowing a couple naughty strands to escape the clutches of being short, and, when he was looking directly as you earlier, you caught on his face some cut short facial hair. You don't remember under which eye exactly, but you do remember seeing a little mole under one of his eyes more to the side. Hm, definitely a strange lad. Maybe just about reaching his thirties in age. Now how did he even end up in a place like this?! He seems rather normal, other than the obvious glowing eyes, strange magic, and build that you only see professional boxers with nowadays.
