"I just can't, I've never been able to." I explain taking a breath. Negan looks at me and I shake off my sadder memories. The sound of rain drops falling makes me subconsciously get up and go over to the record player. Starting it up a song my grandpa loved started playing. "You good (y/n)?" Negan asks as I start walking to my room. "Hm? Sorry it's just every time it would rain my grandparents would put on the record player. So now I sit on my bed while it plays in the other room." He looks at me and I muster up a small smile pulling my cardigan around my body.

"How long have you been alone (y/n)?" He asks sitting at the foot of the bed while I sit in the middle. "A few years now." I answer honestly. "You've done pretty well for yourself." Negan smiles softly as I lay down holding a pillow. "I know I'm probably just unloading a bunch of emotional baggage on you." "What? No, (y/n) believe it or not I know what you're going through. I lost someone very close to me too." He says laying next to me so we face each other. "You never really recover from that." He continues his voice soft and comforting. "But it doesn't help to keep yourself all cooped up in this house." "I know but I can't defend myself, you saw what happened today." We look at each other until Negan places his hand on my cheek making me flinch, but I try not.

"I can take care of you." "But I can't even run very well." "I'll keep you safe just trust me." I smile softly at Negan and feel myself start to drift off. Negan starts to get up but I grab his hand. "Please stay, I don't want to be alone again." I sigh sleepily. I hear him chuckle softly. "Ok (y/n), I'll be right here." He says putting a blanket over my body and laying down next to me.
