Kageyama POV
When the team heard the news about Hinata, there were some mixed reactions.

The third years were concerned and confused.
The other first years were obviously startled but tried not to show it.
Noya and Tanaka didn't believe it at all.

"Come on, coach stop playing! You don't really believe this crap do you, Kageyama?"

I averted my gaze and gritted my teeth.

"Kageyama..."

"Last time I saw him" I said "He didn't even remember his own name"

A sudden tension lingered in the air.
Ukai sighed.

"Starting tomorrow Ennoshita will replace Hinata as middle blocker. You're all dismissed"

We silently walked to the locker room and got changed, and no one dared to say a word.

That was until, Tsukishima bluntly said to me, "So, he doesn't remember anything?"

I shake my head.
"Nothing about his own life, no"

Suga, obviously feeling comfortable to talk now, says,

"And what about volleyball? He doesn't remember anything about..."

"...I don't think so. I got kicked out before I had a chance to ask"

"Kicked out?" Tsukishima snickers "You snuck into a hospital?"

I made a 'tch' sound and grabbed my bag.

After that night, I went to visit him almost everyday.

His personality hasn't changed at all; he's still the happy, hyperactive Hinata that taught me to love my team.

But something about him is different, he doesn't have the same sparkle in his eyes, the one I only see when I toss to him.

Whenever I'm not talking to him he always seems lost, like it takes all he has just to know what's going on.

Who knows, maybe he just never knows what's going on...

Hinata POV

"Say Hinata" Kageyama asks me as I get up to stretch "How about we go for a walk somewhere?"

"A walk?" I ask "Where to?"

"I-I don't know!" he says aggressively "What about... the area around your house"

"My house?" I say "What do you wanna do around there?"

"Well we do walk to school together. Maybe it'll be good if you know the place"

I thought about it for a little while.
To be honest, I have no idea where I do live.

"Is it far?" I ask

"To your house? About 10 minutes by bus"

"And walking?"

"A little too far to walk"

I thought about it for awhile.
I guess it would be nice to get out of here.

"I'm not really allowed to go out" I say "They said it might trigger something but.... hey, what the hell. The nurse usually comes back two hours from now. Will we be back by then?"

He nods and gives me a thumbs up.
I return it with a smile.

"Shall we?"

The bus was empty and so was the street.

I knew I had never seen the place before, but the uneasy familiarity of it made my head hurt.

I ignored it and said,

"So I live here, huh?"

"Yeah." Kageyama responds "I don't really know for how long but you haven't moved since when I first met you. At least, I don't think so"

When we get to the park that he tells me we usually meet up at I ask,

"So, how long have you known me?"

He thinks about it.

"End of last year I think, but we only really started hanging out earlier this year"

"How come?" I ask.

"Well you see... it's a long story"

"We have time"

"We really don't-"

"Please?"

He sighs.

"You see... in middle school I was kind of a jerk to you... and we went to the same high school so I sort of just starting hanging out with you, you know. That's the shortest version anyways"

"So we went to the same middle school then?"

He shook his head.

"Then how'd I meet you?"

He stops and stutters
I look at him confused.

"We were in a tournament together"

"Tournament? What kind of tournament?"

"Volleyball of course"

"Volleyball?" I say turning around and continuing to walk "That sounds kinda lame"

Kageyama POV
I stayed silent the whole way back.

I've never felt any kind of strong emotion towards anyone when they volleyball is lame.

After all, I've heard it my whole life.

But hearing someone like Hinata say something like that?

All he ever did was play.

He loved the sport as much as I did; possibly even more.

His eyes sparked when he saw the ball and the most happy I've ever seen him was on the court.

As much as I wanted to however, I couldn't bring myself to be mad at him.
Not yet.

When we get back to the room, a nurse is already in there.

"Doctor Hayashi?" Hinata says.

"Where have you two been" the doctor says smugly and calmly.

Hinata looks away childishly.

"Nowhere"

It's actually kind of cute the way he said it.

The doctor hints for him to sit down and I go to leave.

Before I do however, I overhear a conversation the two had.

"I'm not mad" the doctor says "Just tell me where you went"

"Kageyama told me it was around the place that I live"

"Can I ask you something"

"Sure"

"Did your head hurt while you were there?"

There was a small silence.
Did his head hurt?
He didn't look like he was in pain, and he didn't complain about it either.

"Maybe a little" Hinata whispers.

That's not good.

"Yeah I thought so" the doctor says "That's not going to be very common, just be careful ok?"

Damn it.
Why do I always gotta he messing everything up for him?

Ahhh this was suck a bad chapter i know i'm sorry!!! I do try and upload often so just be prepared for that. Next chapter will be better I promise 😭😭.
