Life was never easy for Kageyama Tobio.
While other kids laughed on playgrounds, kicking soccer balls and swinging high into the sky, he watched from the car window on his way to yet another hospital visit. He grew up knowing he was different-how his family tiptoed around him, how running left him exhausted, how sports were never an option, and how most days in middle school ended early because his body simply couldn't keep up.
Normal kids didn't take five different medicines a day. Normal kids didn't feel this fragile.
Life had never been fair to him, and after his parents' divorce, there was nothing left to hold on to. So when his mother moved them from Tokyo to a small town, Kageyama expected the same routine new place, same loneliness.
But then he met Hinata Shoyo.
A boy who never seems to sit still, who talks too much, laughs too loud, and moves like he's made of pure energy. Where Kageyama is quiet, Hinata is a storm. Where Kageyama sees limits, Hinata sees possibilities. And for some reason, he's set his sights on Kageyama.
Kageyama has spent his whole life keeping his distance. But can he keep it now?
