Rise of the Inquisition

Reconstruction

Do you remember?

It was an odd question asked of me. A question that wasn't very specific, yet it was very specific at the same time.

Of course you remember, you're just not trying to remember.

No, I'm not trying to remember.

So, you're refusing to remember?

This is not the case, I am not refusing to remember anything. It's just that at this time, there is no point in remembering things from that life anymore. A life I once lived long ago. A life I will never live again. So what is the point of remembering things that only bring me pain and sadness?

The memories bring you pain and sadness?

Yes, the memories do bring me pain and sadness.

Why do the memories bring you pain and sadness?

Because the memories include people I once knew, people I once shared joy, sadness, and glory with. People who I considered to be the greatest of people... People who I considered to be friends for life, no matter what would happen.

...

But it wasn't only friends as well, I lost something else important... something that is possibly more important than the friends... I lost... I lost her beauty... I lost someone special...

I see...

So what caused you to lose these friends for life?

What caused me to lose them?

I'm not exactly sure anymore, the images of the life I once had have become blurry. The thoughts I had about the things that have happened have been forgotten, and I do not not if I can ever remember them.

...

Do you want to remember those thoughts?

Hmmm....

I do not know if I want to remember them...

Why don't you know?

I don't know...

I see...

So how about we start from the beginning?

The beginning?

What was the beginning of it all? Did the beginning of it all start with a battle of glory? A defeat that forced them - or us into learning?

What was the beginning of it all?

More importantly...

Who were they?

They were and still are the same. Despite the world around them constantly being changed, and despite that they are not what they used to be,

They are still the Inquisition.

Mighty, fearsome, and strong as ever.

The Inquisition?

Hearing the name "Inquisition" rings a golden bell inside my head, no doubt about it. I do recall what the Inquisition was, and I recall what the Inquisition was made to do. The Inquisition was a group of seven individuals made to defeat some specific group, but tasked to protect the world it lived in, tasked to protect what was held dear in that world from its greatest threats.
