'It hurts too much'

My black hair fluttered in the wind as tears ran down my soft pale cheeks. In just a few hours, I had lost everything. I was the only one who escaped, and only thanks to my brother sacrificing himself. Without him... I would have been enslaved. Maybe even killed. Thinking back... I could have saved them. If only I was stronger!

"Come on Guys! Last one to the village is a rotten egg! We all laughed, happily running through the forest. Then suddenly, we heard an explosion from the direction of our village. Two men appeared in front of us. Me being the youngest, Aika and Hanzoko - my siblings - stood protectively in front of me. One man took out a knife, and i could see Hanzoko tense. But then Aika turned towards me, patting my head. "Don't worry, we'll be okay." She said, smiling reassuringly. I nodded, and hid behind her. Hanzoko took out his sword, getting into a defensive position.

"When I give the signal, you two run as far away from here as you can." He whispered to us.

"H-huh? What about you?!" I asked worrying about the strange man with a knife.

The man charged. Hanzoko blocked the blow with his sword, and pushed us away.

"Don't worry about me, just run! Go!" He shouted, as the second man took out a knife too, and attacked along with the first. Reluctantly, we turned tail and ran. After a few minutes though, an eerie silence surrounded us, and suddenly one of the men appeared behind us. I managed to get away, but he grabbed Aika and threw her over his shoulder.

"Run, Yuko!" she shouted

"No! I can't leave you!" I cried

"Please! For the sake of the village! "

Before I could think about it longer, another man appeared, snatching my arm, wrapping his other hand around my mouth. I bit him, and the second he pulled away in pain, I lurched forward, escaping his grasps. With one last look at Aika, I ran off, never stopping.

-time skip-

I didn't know how long I had been running. In front of me, I could see a large palace. I tried to walk closer, trying to seek help there but my vision started getting blurry, and every step seemed harder than the last. Less than a minute later my eyes shut and I fell to the ground, no longer conscious.

-back to the present-

"Hey, you okay Yuko? You should head inside, it's getting cold." Said Judar. After I passed out outside the Kou palace, Judar had found me and took me in as a maid. It wasn't the best, especially since I had to always stay with him no matter where he went, but it was also an easy way to get all the stuff I needed to live. But anyways, back to the present. Judar noticed the teardrop rolling down my cheek, but said nothing. We both headed back inside, to try to get some sleep. It was past midnight, afterall.

"Goodnight Judar-kun."
