How long has it been since that dreaded day? How much longer must this go on? These were the questions that Zena would ask herself every day. Until one day, a new ward was assigned to Zena's row of cells. His name was, David. When Dr. Shaw wasn't doing his usual testing and research on Zena, David would try his best to comfort her. Whether it be: an extra piece of bread on her lunch tray; talking to Zena through the small hole in the steel door; or on rare occasions actually getting to talk face to face behind the glass, where Shaw would watch and take notes on Zena's tests.
"Hello David! I just caught the best objects for my next test on my darling little Crystal!" Shaw said excitedly to David. As soon as David heard the name: Crystal, he knew exactly who Dr. Shaw was talking about. David had to show no emotion, so that he wouldn't reveal his true feelings on the matter, but had the worst gut feeling he had ever encountered. "Are you curious? Do you want to see History in the making?!" Shaw said putting his arm around David, as he lead David to Zena's observation room. As soon as everyone took their places in the room, Dr. Shaw motioned to another scientist who had a earpiece, & told them to start the test. Soon after, there were people dressed in specialized black suits (also known as: Specialized Response Team, or SRT), that went into Zena's cell.
The SRT then took ahold of Zena's wrists, injected something into her, and locked her into a standing operation table. Zena tried to struggle, but was soon too weak to get out of their hold before the last lock. Then some SRTs brought in two clear stools and black steeled briefcases. Once set up, they went out for a brief moment. "The best part is about to begin!" Dr. Shaw said as he turned to face everyone. "I encountered these beautiful crystals fighting against each other." The SRT then dragged in two dead women, with strange skin tones, and markings on them that were barely noticeable, between the bruises and battle scars.
"Isn't this outside of our code doctor? Are we not civil, and agreed to not test on humans?" One of the scientists in the back said. "These can barely be called human, and besides they were the ones who had killed each other, upon my encounter with them." Shaw somewhat pouted. He then turned to the viewing window, and stretched out his arms, "Behold, my Ultimate Creation!!" The SRTs then quickly opened the briefcases, and left the room. Zena then noticed what was in the cases, and began to feel as though she was being suffocated by heat, that spread throughout her body.
There were two different types of crystals that then floated up out of the cases. When this happened, the building started to quake, and the lights began to flicker. Then Zena started to yell in pain, and started to glow. Lights started to pop and sizzle as they were gathering too much electricity. The two women started to float up from the ground, and started to glow different colors from Zena. The one on the left of Zena was glowing with pure white, as the one on her right glowed a dark purple. They then sprouted wings, one with white feathers, and the other with one bat like wing and a black feathered wing. Both women, Zena, and the crystals illuminated a light so bright that it blinded everyone; not even specialized glasses could have helped.
Once the light was gone and Zena was done yelling, David slowly opened his eyes. He checked the closest surroundings as to make sure he was safe to get up off the floor. David then saw that Dr. Shaw and his fellow scientists were slowly getting up as well. He then turned towards the viewing window as fast as he remembered what had happened. All that was there, was Zena laying face down in the middle of her cell. Zena was glowing with all three colors. A faint orange red, then pure white, then a dark purple.
Then there was a crazed excitement of laughter that got louder. With a shiver down David's back, he then saw that it was in fact Dr. Shaw. "Yes. Yes! Success! I knew that I could count on my precious little Crystal!" Shaw exclaimed, as he went over and petted the window. The Specialized Response Team, then went into the cell, and started to somewhat put things back in their places, and then went to pick up Zena. "Careful now. Careful. We wouldn't want our hard work to go to waste." Shaw said playfully, then looked at David. Unknowingly David was wearing a face of shock and concern.
