Emily's pov:
I woke up at 6:45am to my iPhone alarm blaring, telling me it was time to get up for school. I had about 20 minutes before the bus came, so I got up to get dressed so I'd have time to get to Dawson's house before school. I settled on wearing a black pair of leggings and my pink Shane Dawson hoodie with a pink pig outline on the front. I grabbed a pair of white Adidas with 3 black stripes down the sides out of my closet and slipped them on. Once I was dressed, I unlocked and opened my bedroom door and grabbed my phone, a power bank, and charger, and slipped them into my backpack. I also grabbed a pair of headphones, so that I could listen to music on the bus. By the time I had finished getting dressed and grabbed all of the stuff I needed, I only had about 10 minutes left before the bus came. I grabbed a granola bar out of the pantry and walked out the front door, walking 2 doors down to Dawson's house.
Despite it being the beginning of May, it was kind of chilly outside. I was glad I'd worn a hoodie. I texted my mom, telling her I'd left the house and was walking to Dawson's. She always wanted me to tell her when I left the house for school, since she was always at work when I'd leave.
Dawson had been my next door neighbor since second grade, and we'd been friends ever since. We are freshmen now, and we've been best friends for 9 years. I was so glad my mom had made me go with her to introduce ourselves when his family moved here. I truly don't know where I'd be without him.
I got to Dawson's house and knocked on the door 3 times, and waited. I looked up to his bedroom window to see him looking down at me with a huge smile plastered on his face. As soon as I saw him, my face lit up and I smiled too. That was his secret power, he could make you truly happy just by looking at you. I looked down at my phone to see a text from him. "Come in babyy." He always called me that. I had no clue why. It was cute though, and we'd had pet names for each other for ages. I opened the door and ran up to his room.
"DAWSON!!" I yelled when I saw him. He turned around and looked at me with his bright green eyes, and I looked at him with my icy blue ones. I ran in for a hug and he tightly squeezed me back. I hadn't seen him since early March, since I had to go to Idaho when my Grandpa died, and hadn't been back to Ohio since. I'd missed being in his arms so much.
"Hi Emi. I missed you so much." he'd said after a solid 5 minutes of hugging. I looked at him and said, "You have no idea how much I've missed you Daws. I hated being there in Idaho, and not being able to see you." He smiled at me and hugged me again. Then I remembered. The bus.
"Daws! The bus!!" I looked at him alarmed. The bus was supposed to be here in 3 minutes, and Dawson didn't even have his shoes on. "Dawson, honey put your shoes on we need to go. The bus should be here in 3 minutes. You should probably put on a jacket too." He started to pull on a hoodie and his shoes while I ran downstairs and grabbed him a small bag of Cheez-Its and a juice box. He came downstairs wearing the same shoes as me and black sweatpants with a tan XPLR and maroon hoodie on. We walked outside as the bus was coming down the street. I threw the bac and juice box at him, and we waited for the bus to arrive.
