Ans.

(a) If image is real, it will be inverted which means height of image will be taken as negative. Also, the height of object is always positive.
Now as magnification = Height of image / Height of object.

Therefore, in case of real image,
Magnification = Height of image (-) / height of object (+)=Negative.
So, Magnification will be negative.
Similarly, if image is virtual, it will be erect.

Therefore, in case of virtual image,
Magnification = Height of image (+) / height of object (+)= Positive
So, Magnification will be positive.

(b) Convex mirror is commonly used in rear view mirrors in vehicles because it gives an erect, virtual, full size diminished image of distant objects with a wider field of view. Thus, convex mirrors enable the driver to view much larger area which is not possible with a concave mirror.

After the first batch, I moved to practical questions, the experiment was to make a paper clip float, make an erupting volcano and lastly bend water with static electricity.

I was able to finish all of this in 1hour. After what seemed like forever, my other competitors from others school finally finished after many failed attempts. I was happy I had won the tournament for the second time. I smiled gleefully as I held the honorary cup high above my head. I was celebrated and given a golden medal, how they got my name inscription on it, I don't know but I love it!!!!

When the principal told me I could participate, I didn't believe but she looked super serious, like it was her final decision. It could be either, my nosy friends did raid her office or she thought of the consequences the school would face if I didn't partake in the science tournament.
Either way, I'm glad I didn't give up even when I knew I wasn't going to participate. I never stopped working on potential questions for the tournament.

THIRD PERSON POINT OF VIEW

It was a hot Friday afternoon and Chigozie was somewhere around practicing, while Mercy, Lydia, Chiebuka and I chilled under our school's monument, at the center of the school's compound. It was pretty big so lots of people were there.

We waited for Emmanuella and Kelvin, who insisted he would accompany her and other science students, with her for the tournament. I really hoped it would be good news, of cause we could count on Emmanuella as the team leader, so victory was guaranteed. That girl is literally the brain of the science class, she could read for Africa and that's why Victoria never stopped referring to her as the Nerd Queen because once she starts eh you'd need at least two dictionaries to keep up.

Lydia and I were having a heart to heart moment, and she was this close to saying the three letter word I've been meaning to hear all year long. The last time I asked her the million dollar question, "will you be my girlfriend?" She laid me off easy and I'd be a liar, to say I wasn't hurt. I was beyond hurt because I've liked her ever since we met in junior secondary, she was the new student then, now that we were all in senior secondary, I decided to try my luck against all odds

"Lydia, I know I've asked you this question before, and you've answered, based on the fact that we were in junior school and we weren't emotionally prepared, but this time I ask again, though I know you might not be emotionally prepared but at least, you'll give me a chance and let your heart decide. Lydia... will you be my girlfriend? "

I asked, in hope that she doesn't reject me again. I looked deeply into her eyes, hoping for some miracle, but the minute she stuttered, I knew I was done for, though I didn't conclude just yet, she hadn't said anything, I waited, even tho I'm not the most patient, right now,

"Emmanuella!!!"

she said, before she went to meet her friend whom I hadn't noticed, was in the compound. I was left hanging again and for once was I glad that there weren't much people in the monument, to witness another failed attempt to make Lydia, my girlfriend. At least, the people who were around didn't notice what had happened or rather, they chose to mind their business. Except Mercy who was somewhere around watching and listening in our conversation, her acknowledging Emmanuella's name wasn't exactly the miracle I had expected, but I had to pull myself together and pretend I was cool, because Kelvin, Emmanuella and Lydia were almost upon us.

"Hey guys how did it go"

I asked Emmanuella when she reached me. She tried to fake a tear and act like they lost but I've known her long enough to guess when was pretending. I smirked at her with a raised eyebrow before she gave in and announced their victory.

"Oh, alright you caught me Faruq. We won!!!! And guess what? "

"Umm i get to keep my ears before you squeal it off"

"No silly, all of you get to come with us to Dominos, to celebrate our win, well my win actually, but its still ours"

I grinned from ear to ear because I could really use some ice cream right now. Its not easy being rejected twice by the one person you've loved for so long. But then, it came to mind to ask who was going to pay, we can't possibly be going there to count the ice cream, so I voiced out,

" yeah, umm bills on who exactly?"

In a low whisper she responded,

"the principal"

Then, us alongside some members from the science tournament went to celebrate on with emma at the Dominos on island.

What away to end the Day and who knew faruq had feeling for Lydia. No one right I bet you all didn't see that coming.
