He asked them not to use magic...but he didn't say anything about physical violence instead of magical violence.

Everyone is asked to leave McGonagall's office. It was nearly half ten, thirty minutes past the time they should have been in their rooms, although since Hermione and Draco were head boy and girl, they had to do their nightly runs, which Hermione had been doing alone ever since Draco got potioned.

Walking around the castle at night was also quite creepy, and she hated doing it alone, so she was glad she had Draco again.

For a while, they wandered around in silence, just taking in each other's presence and the good fortune that Alexandra would be leaving and they could hopefully get on with their lives.

Suddenly, Draco grabs Hermione's hand and stops her from walking. They stopped on the grand staircase, and there was no light around them. It was completely dark and quiet.

Hermione gives him a questioning look, not wanting to speak and ruin the quietness.

He shrugs and pulls her in for a hug, something Draco rarely did. Sure, they held hands and kissed, but Draco was rare at giving hugs.

Shocked by this, Hermione is tense at first but soon relaxes into their hug. They stay like that for another minute before Hermione finally asks what this is for

"I don't know. I just felt like it." He tells her, still hugging her

"Not that I hate it I was just surprised, is all...I don't think we've ever hugged. Although that does seem quite silly." She smiles, rubbing his back with her hands in a comforting gesture

Moving away from the hug but still staying in each other's arms, Draco moves to look at Hermione

"What?" She asks

"Nothing. I think you're making me soft, is all." He smirks, causing Hermione to laugh

"Draco. Deep down, I think we all know that you've always had a soft spot for me." She smiles, knowing she's right

"I don't know what you're talking about." He argues

Hermione then recounts the time two weeks ago when Blaise had told her that Draco secretly fancied her during their third, fourth, and fifth-year

Blaise has finally tracked Hermione down after supper to tell her about Draco.

"Granger! Can I steal you for a minute or two?" He asks, finally catching up with her

"Of course! What's up, Blaise?"

"Well, since you and Draco are engaged now, and Draco pissed me off earlier...I thought I would tell you a little secret about your fiancé...

Hermione nods for him to go on, a bit nervous.

"Remember how you slapped him in the third year? Well, after that, Draco grew to fancy you...he said he stopped after the fifth year, but...I don't think he ever really did." He smiles

This leaves Hermione in shock.
Draco fancied her before they were even sorted to be married...before they were engaged...That probably helped in their sorting.

"Wait...he told you? Why would he tell you? His entire family hates muggles and muggle-borns...why would he tell anyone?" She asked, genuinely confused

"Hermione. Draco is like my brother. He knows he can trust me and I, him. He even told me of the vanishing cabinet. I knew everything, but I always kept my mouth shut, and he knows that. I'm assuming he just wanted to tell someone to talk about it with...sort out his feelings, I guess. But now that you know, please hold it over him whenever he annoys you."

"You got it, Blaise. Thanks for telling me."

"I'm gonna kill him."

"I think it's adorable. I can't say I ever felt the same because you were a big-baby-childish-jerk. But at least I do now." She smiles, leaving in

"You want a kiss after calling me a...what was it? Big-baby-childish-jerk?"

"Seriously. Drake, it's been a week and a half. Make your fiancée happy."

At the word fiancée, Draco gave in immediately and leaned in for a snog

They stayed like this for another minute before realizing they were snogging on the great staircase while they were supposed to be doing their duties as Head boy and girl.

"We should go." Hermione sighs, pulling away from Draco

Sighing, they begin walking back down the flight, hand in hand, and continuing their conversation about things they missed while Draco was gone

"I was going nuts. Poor Ginny. Then, I had to do my shifts alone, which I hated. The castle is so scary at night." She sighs, leaning into Draco

Hermione has never been one to be super touchy or clingy, but she had to admit...Draco felt safe.
She didn't know why or how just that he did.

When they reach their common room, Draco stops Hermione for the second time that night

"What's wrong? Did we forget to check something?" She asks, yawning

"No. I forgot something."

"What? Did you leave something in McGonagall's office?"

"I love you."
