"Harry got expelled."

Remus had been the one who had read it. The children in the house, and Remus, and Sirius, were playing Wizard's Chess in the living room of 12 Grimmauld Place. Ron had won every game he played, though the best match of the night had been him and Remus. Maddy had gotten so frustrated half-way through her game with Ron (Simon sat next to her and translated her moves to the Chess pieces) that she ended up flipping the board, the pieces yelling profanities at the girl who just crossed her arm and plopped on the couch, a scowl on her face.

"What did you just say, Moony?" asked Sirius, his eyes peeling away from Simon and Hermione, who were currently playing, though they had paused at Remus's words.

"Harry did underaged magic, a Patronus Charm apparently," despite the situation, Remus couldn't help but grin at his success in the charm. "Dumbledore convinced the Wizengamot to give him a trial on the twelfth. I don't have all the details, just what Arthur told me in this letter." He waved it dismissively in his hand, and Sirius snatched it, glancing over the words.

"I'll be back. I've got to write him a quick letter."

After Sirius left, the reality of the situation hit the children like a freight train.

"Harry might not come to Hogwarts this year?" asked Hermione fearfully.

"He can't be expelled, he just can't!" exclaimed Ron, standing up and storming out of the room.

"This is the same Harry you've been telling me about, right?" whispered Simon in Maddy's ear.

Maddy nodded, That's the one.

Ginny stared at Remus without saying a word, before like her brother, left the room.

"I'm sure Arthur will give us more details in the morning. I'm pretty sure it's not official yet, since he has a trial, so relay that information to Ron and Ginny. I think he'll be staying with us for the rest of the summer, we'll just have to find a way to get him here."

"Mr. Lupin," murmured Simon, standing up and holding his hand for Maddy to grab. "If Harry does stay, he'll want to be with Ron most likely. Where'll I stay?"

Fred and George shared glances and smiled at him, "You'll move into our room, of course." said Fred as if it were obvious.

"Our room's larger, and we already have an extra bed, so all you'll need to do is move your belongings." added George.

"Not tonight," instructed Remus. "It's already late. Off to bed, all of you."

Fred and George protested the most, stating that they were of age and that it wasn't too late. Simon and Maddy quietly put away the Chess set, though the pieces Maddy picked up squealed at her touch, convinced she'd flip them again.

The twins soon relented to going upstairs, and apparated with a POP, leaving Hermione, Simon, Maddy, and Darienne to hike up the flights of stairs as Remus went to the kitchen to see if he could get more information on Harry's situation.

"It seems a little excessive, doesn't it, to get expelled for doing magic outside of school?" inquired Simon, looking between Maddy and Hermione.

Hermione nodded, a frown on her face. "It's a law though, in the Ministry."

I think the Ministry's becoming corrupt. Maddy stated. You saw those horrible things they said about Harry. He's the most modest person I've ever met, he isn't going to lie about Voldy Smorts return.

It seems like a really bad time for Simon and I to enter the Wizarding World. mused Darienne. There's a war going on, even if it isn't official.
