Chapter 11-Into the Night

Isaiah's POV

I hear small footsteps behind me to see Marissa slowly following me. A bit slow I may add but still following me none the less. Turning around to face her again she continues walking slowly looking down sadly.

I walk up to her and hug her before dragging her back to the living room. She sees everyone staring at her in concern as she plops back down on her original seat.

Immediately standing back up she gets her drink then sits back down. More slower so she wouldn't drop her drink.

I take the spot next to her as Rita brings in some food.

We eat it all and then all bid each other small goodbyes and go separately into our rooms.

Marissa goes into the back to change while I stay in the room and change. As I start to climb into bed she arrives from my closet in shorts and a long t-shirt.

She gets Belle changed and places her softly into the crib. Giving her a small kiss on the head she starts to head toward the bed.

Turning away I face my back to her. She climbs into the bed and soon I hear her steady breathing.

It suddenly becomes quiet and all I hear is the steady breathing coming from Marissa and Belle.

Silently and swiftly getting out of the bed I tiptoe across the hall and down the stairs. Taking extra precautions I turn around every 2 steps, eventually reaching the bottom.

Suddenly my ringtone rings. I rush up the stairs and turn it off. Marissa shifts on the bed and then goes silent again, except for her steady breathing.

It was a text from Mae.

Mae: Hey can you please come and meet me on the park?

Me: That would require me to sneak out.

Mae: Please. It's important.

Me: Like not being alone important?

Mae: Exactly.

Me: No.

Mae: C'mon. Don't you wanna see me again? It's been too long.

Me: I guess. But only for 20 minutes.

Mae: I knew you'd come around.

Silently I sneak into my closet and pick out a normal t-shirt, jeans, and my jacket. Unplugging my phone and grabbing my key I again descend the stairs quietly.

I unlocked the door and slowly walked out it. Locking it again behind me I start to head towards the park.

Reaching there I approach the small duck pond in the middle and stare at the dark water.

"Nice to see you actually made it out of the house this time." Mae calls out

I sigh before answering, "what do you want Mae?"

She shrugs then sits down next to me. "Dont you miss your best friend?"

Running my hand through my hair I look straight at her, "I guess.."

She nods then we sit there in silence for a few moments. "Well isn't it a beautiful night?"

Nodding at her I pick up a small rock then toss it into the water. It hits with a small plop then sinks, as the water ripples where it was.

"Isaiah. I know that face. What are you thinking about?" She says

Picking up another stone I start to tell her, "well since your hear and you understand pretty well. My parents came back. Which is crappy considering I have a project with this girl from another city, county or whatever. Then her friends. Rayne and Caryn. They're staying and it's just hard because only now they decide to come back and Marissa....."

She nods, "it can be tough. Especially since your parents are back. But let's not dwell on the fact they left you. Focus on the fact that they're back."

"I know it's just Marissa too. She's....." I start, "well.....I don't know....She just......uhm...."

Mae smirks before standing up, "well the thing with Marissa? Figure it out yourself. I know you'll find out soon enough. And your parents. Give them a chance. Maybe you'll like them now. Bye Isaiah."

I wave at her as she walks off. Checking my phone I see it's 2:00 in the morning.

"Crap!" I whisper-yell

Standing up really fast I jog all the way back to my house.

Silently running up the porch steps I grab my key out and open the door. The house is quiet and I close the door really slow then head up the stairs.

In my room there is a small light on and for a second I panic. Twisting the knob I swing the door open to see a lamp on and Marissa and Belle soundly asleep.

Breathing a huge sigh of relief I remove my jacket and stuff and put on some comfortable shorts and shirt then climb silently back into bed.

"I know you were gone." Marissa whispers

Mumbling under my breath I pretend to be asleep.

"Don't act like you were asleep Isaiah. Where were you?" She gets up.

I mumble out the word 'park'.

"Oh." Is all she says before lying back down and soon going back to sleep.

Here's a Christmas update for you guys ((: and I wasn't actually planning to post this until next year but I got done with it early. And I thought "hey its Christmas why not"
