Castelle’s POV

Born with a twin sister, yet treated like a stranger.

While my sister was showered with love and luxury, I grew up ignored and unwanted. We lived under the same roof, but our lives were completely different. She had everything, while I lived with the bare minimum.

Sometimes, I ask myself—

What is the purpose of my existence?

I did everything just to be loved, yet I was never enough.

Because of a fortune teller’s words, my family treated me like a curse. And even the man I loved abandoned me because of what my sister did to me.

She deceived me. Sold me for a one-night stand with a stranger who drugged me.

That night still haunts me.

Luckily, before something terrible happened, someone saved me. A young man I never got the chance to know.

But instead of hearing the truth, my parents believed the lies.

No matter how much I cried and begged for them to trust me, they never did.

Deep inside, I already knew they never loved me the way they loved my sister… but a part of me still hoped.

Even just this once.

But they didn’t choose me.

Instead, they severed all ties with me, erased my existence, and threw me away like an animal.

If not for my aunt, I honestly don’t know what would’ve happened to me.

She brought me to Canada and loved me like her own daughter. Because of her, I learned how to stand again. I studied hard and eventually achieved my dream of becoming a licensed pediatrician.

Before I realized it, twelve years had already passed.

I thought my past would remain buried forever, but fate had other plans.

After a year of residency at the hospital where I worked, I received a reassignment memo to one of the best hospitals in the Philippines.

Going back there was the last thing I expected.

I didn’t know what to feel while staring at the notice. Fear? Anger? Pain?

Maybe all of them.

Still, this was a huge opportunity for my career, and it would only last for three years.

I just hoped nothing bad would happen.

But before my flight, my aunt received an unexpected call.

From my father.

The same man who threw me away twelve years ago.

“I’m sorry, Castelle. Let’s forget about the past, okay? Your sister is getting married this December. We heard you’re returning to the Philippines today. Come home and give your sister your blessing.”

His voice never changed.

Cold. Distant. Emotionless.

At least when it came to me.

Forget the past?

As if all the pain they caused me was something I could erase so easily.

Did they suddenly want to become my family again after abandoning me like I was nothing?

If not for my aunt, I would never have become the person I am today.
And how did they even know about my flight?

“Castelle?” my aunt called worriedly.
I looked at the only person who truly cared for me, and I forced myself to smile.

“I’m alright, Auntie. Don’t worry… I’m not weak anymore.”

No matter what happens, I’ll face them on my own.

I’m stronger now.

I won’t let anyone destroy me again.

But who would’ve thought that the moment I returned to the Philippines, I would meet the man who once saved me that night?

Only now…

He already has a son.

And somehow, that adorable little boy ran toward me and called me—

“Mama!”
