"You now have a new secretary. What about the fair Igbo girl? What's her name again sorry?" She asked.

"Uche?" Demilade answered.

"Yeah, Uche." She smiled.

"Well, Uche is still my secretary and Lola isn't. So Sholape meets Lola." He said looking at her.

Lola was pleased that he still remembered her name. But she couldn't help but wonder the reason for all the formalities. Why was he calling her 'Miss Bamidele'? She doesn't seem to understand the man.

Lola stretched out her hand to shake Sholape. But the woman used her eyes to look at her from head to toe before she faked a smile. She took it and then drop it almost immediately which actually hurt her feelings.

"So who is she Demilade?" She asked with a bit of curiosity and exasperation.

Lola turned to look at Demilade expecting his answer.

"She is a friend," Demilade replied without blinking.

Sholape looked at her like she couldn't believe Demilade was a friend of someone like her. Lola noticed the woman doesn't like her. Her reaction said it all.

"Uhm." She sounded.

"I want to ask you for a favour. I need some help from you." Demilade said going straight to the point.

"Okay. I'm all ears."

"I want you to explain things about your business to her. You know what I mean right?" And he told.

She nodded reluctantly. And he told her the things he needed her to do.

"Okay. For you, I will do that. But is there any reason why.... that I need to know?" She queried.

"Not really. But thanks Sholape. I owe you a dinner." He said with a sweet smile and the woman turned red.

"Anything for you Demmy." She said with so much pleasure. "I look forward to it."

"I will call you." He told her. "I have to leave now. I have an empire to return to."

              She smiled, nodding.

"I will go and call Amara." And she left the office.

Demilade turned to Lola and he moved closer to her saying quietly.

"Do as she says. Make sure you listen to everything she says. It is very important. And the sooner you learn, the faster you end the lesson."

"Alright." She answered. He looked at her like he expected her to say more but she didn't.

"Okay. You can go home when you are done. My driver will come to pick you up later. Just come here tomorrow. You don't have to come to my house unless I told you so." He instructed. She remained quiet. "I'll leave now." And he left her in the office just as Sholape came in with another woman that looked just like her in stature and dress.

Demilade entered his car and the driver drove out of the compound. He thought about Lola's behaviour during his ride to the office. She was unusually quiet. She didn't even give a reply when he told her he was leaving and even before then. Maybe she wasn't who he thought she was.

He had been surprised by her behaviour the day she came to his house. She always held eye contact with him without blinking or looking away. She didn't react the way most girls do around him.

He liked her courage and how she reacted at his house that day. And at the same time, he hated it. He hated ladies challenging him, especially someone as young as Lola.

Maybe she was just playing tough the second time they met. He thought.

                He doesn't really care.

He crossed the thought out of his head and he remembered he had something to do. He picked up his phone and dialled his best friend's number while the receiver answered on the first ring.

"Hello Best man." He said laughing on the phone.

Demilade joined him before he asked.

"How are your wife and Joanna?"

"My baby girl is right here on my lap and my angel is in the kitchen."

"That's nice Family man," Demilade commented. And Bayo laughed. "So... No work today?" He asked.

"Work can wait. I want to spend time with my family. So why the call on a weekday......and morning to be precise." He asked knowing his best friend pretty well.

He knows Demilade doesn't joke with his work. On a morning like this, he would have been in his office. Sometimes he wondered how he remain healthy with the little sleep he have.

"Just call to let you know that she agrees. She agreed to make the deal."

Demilade said with so much pride. He was so proud of himself. He was very happy about his achievements. He was glad he didn't have to do so much or say much either to convince the lady.

               His money did it all.

"Are you serious?"

"Yeah. My money did it. Just like I told you."

"Smart asshole. Lucky you then." He said. "You will tell me about it when we see later."

             Demilade nodded in agreement.

"Okay. No problem."

"Demmy."

"Yes."

"Treat her well," Bayo advised. He knew his friend better than anyone. He doesn't care. He doesn't care about anyone except his family and work. Nothing and no one matter to him more than those two.

"That is not a problem. We'll see later. I've got to go." He replied and hung up.
