Chapter 23

Ashton's POV:

I stare at the man I call my father in shock. My heart beats out of my chest and I feel like I can't breathe.

It's been years sense he walked out on my mom and I. Years sense he last saw Lauren. He left when he found out mom was pregnant with Harry and he wasn't even born yet and he never grew up with a father. Hell my mom hasn't found someone to love or gotten remarried and it kills me.

I need to have a talk with her about that later.

Why is he here? Why now has he decided to just stumble back into my life? I am suddenly very angry and I can't seem to hold back anymore.

"YOU LITTLE SH!T!!" I yell in disgust and cause my father, Simon and Luke to jump back in surprise. I run at him but I'm held back by strong arms.

"LET GO LUKE!!! LET ME AT HIM." I scream and there are footsteps behind us.

"What is go-" my moms sweet voice trails off. I instantly go limp in Luke's arms and see a tear slip down my mothers cheek.

"Ronny?" She gasps.

"Hey baby." He breaths out. Mom just turns around and walks out of the room in pure sadness and my dad frowns.

"Don't baby her you coward!!" I snap.

"Okay okay, I know you're upset Ashton." He says slowly walking towards me.

"Upset is an understatement. You have left us to fend for ourselves. Mom has been so depressed sense you have left. I realize that now, I never realized it until now and I feel like absolute shit about it. You have caused us so much stress over the past few years and you haven't come back or anything. I don't even know if Lauren and I can call you our father again. You left mom when she needed you the most. You were too stubborn to help with another child a baby none the less and that baby just so happens to be the best brother anyone has ever asked for. He has grown up with a tough life because he never knew who his father was. You are too blind to see it though because you were never in his damn life."

"Th-that's m-my fa-father?" A small cracked voice says behind me. I turn around to a teary eyed Harry and I can see Lauren with her mouth open and physically shaking.

Poor things.

"Wow. What a handsome boy. My gosh Lauren honey you are so beautiful." He says in awe and I am currently losing my patients. I noticed that Luke must have left us alone for a while and I couldn't thank him enough.

"Why dad?" I croak out.

"Why what Ashton?"

"How could you stand there and say something like that. You have no right." The small smile on his face drops instantly.

"Lauren, Harry. Come here." I open my arms and they both step into my side.

"Harry. Yes, this is your father. Lauren, if you guys have anything to say, say it. If not then dad."

I look up at him with tears in my eyes.

"You need to leave, and never come back." I sniffle and wipe the tears away.

"You cant do that Ashton Irwin!! This is not how it's going to work. I will not leave, I will make a commitment and stay. I will do everything I can to do so."

"I don't think you can because that's what you said long ago before you left. How do I know that it won't happen again? This family cannot go through heartbreak again. I am the man of this family now. I may be on tour but I will always be the real father figure here. The father figure that you never were."

That finally got him to shut up and I'm glad that's all I have to say.

"Lauren, do you wanna say anything?" I ask.

"Yeah." She walks up to dad and holds her head up high.

"You left. I will not let you come back into this family and end up leaving again. You are my father and I love you, but not like I used to. I'm sorry."

"Hun." He tries to reach out for her.

"Go back to where you came from." She says storming out and mom walks back in.

"Harry you don't need to be around this right now. Come back inside with the guys and I." She says as sweetly as possible.

"Yeah! I have nothing to say anyways. Well I have one thing. I grew up without a father like you Ronny, and I don't want to spend the rest of my life getting to know you. You hurt my family and abandoned me, that won't fly. Bye." He says confidently and takes my moms hand.

I love my brother and sister they are so damn strong and wise for their ages and I could be any more proud.

When everyone leaves it's just me and the old man.

"I can't believe you Irwin." He shouts.

"I'm sorry but this is the way it has to be. We deserve better than you. Plus you said I couldn't amount to being a superstar and look where I am now. You decide to come back when I'm at the peak of my career and try to come back into our life. That's not how it's going to be. I am able to provide so much for this family. More than you ever have, so goodbye."

"DON'T DO THIS!!!" He shouts in my face.

"Boys." I wave our security over and they take him away before anything else happens. Thank God.

'Bye dad' I thought sadly as I walk backstage with my real family.
