In exchange for Clary's sacrifice, Meliron offered Clary the gift of helping her find her father. Accepting the offer made Clary, Jace, and Meliorn end up traveling to the Seelie woods.

"Toto, we're not in Kansas anymore," Clary says looking around at the sunny green forest

"Welcome to the Seelie Glade, Clary Fairchild. The remotest edges of it" Meliorn says as he continues to lead the couple through the woods being the only one to know where they were going

"How did we get here?" Clary asks Jace, as in their world it was still sundown and it was as if they were just standing outside the Hotel DuMort

"There are entrances all through the mundane world" Jace explains vaguely

"You just have to know where to look," Meliorn says with a smile turning to look back at the couple

"Why did we have to come here to find my father?" Clary asks the Seelie making him turn to face her as he continued to walk

"Because of your necklace. It's a Portal shard"

"Tell us something we don't know," Jace says taking a look around the trees, his training had taught him to always keep an eye on his surroundings

"How does it work?" Meliorn asks wanting to know how much knowledge they had on the subject

"When I touch the crystal and I think of someone, I can see where they are" Clary responds raising a hand to touch the outline of her necklace

"I'm curious, Shadowhunter, who knows so much about Portals, did you never wonder why this Portal shard doesn't behave the way normal Portals do?" Meliorn asks but Clary didn't know so she turns to look at Jace for the answer

"Normal Portals can only take you to places you've been. I guess I never really thought about it"

"I see Isabelle is the smart one in the family," Meliorn says making Clary laugh as they stop walking and for Jace to look at the Seelie with a glare "Your Portal shard works the way it does because it's a piece of a Portal from another dimension"

"Another dimension?" Clary questions wondering if she had heard him correctly

"You're saying there's a Portal in some other universe that can take us to anyone if we just think of them?" Jace asks crossing his arms not believing that such power existed
