I was just chilliing, listening to music and suddenly 'BTS - Spring Day' started playing. One of my favourite BTS song. But.. I rarely listen to it on purpose. Because the song always give me a heavy felling on my chest. And I want ti share with y'all why I feel that away. Why I love BTS Also why I think BTS is as popular as they are right now.

Without context, the lyrics might seems just like another break up song. But it is actually a heartbreaking story about a person's feeling of being left by his friends sudden passing. More accurately the Sewol Ferry tragedy in Korea.

Sewol Ferry Tragedy

A ferry carrying more than 300 students on their way to Jeju Island was sinking. The captain told the student to stay in their spot instead of evacuating themselves. There are videos evidence found showing the student wanted to call their mom because it might be the last time, saying they don't want to die. Heartbreaking is an understatement when I watched it . The only students that survive this incident was the one fighting to evacuate themselves. Nobody in the ferry crew helped.

The MV starts with a scene where Taehyung walks to the middle of train rail and puts his head on the rail. Him representing the survivor having  survivor's guilt. The guilt of surviving while his friend has passed. Many people who survived a tragedy feel like committing suicide out of guilt, so they can meet the others in the after life.
