House Guest Part 2

Start from the beginning

“Where Munch?”

“In the kitchen with mommy.”

“What they doing there?” I took off my shoes.

“Making brownies.” He smiled wide and ran into the kitchen.

I wanted nothing more to do than to go to my spot in the basement, drink a few beers and unwind while watching television.

I proceeded to unbutton the cuff of my shirt as I walked toward the basement door. I walked  down the stairs to see Bobby Ray’s ass eating a huge bowl of popcorn, flicking through my tv.

“Hey cuz.” He raised his finger to greet me.

I don’t even allow my kids down here. This is my spot!

I practically ran upstairs to the kitchen where Amb was.

“Like this mommy?” Sata said stirring brownie mix.

“Yup. Just like that.”

“Amb.” I leaned against the counter, looking at her with my nostrils flaring.

“Daddy taste my mix!” Sata scooped up some mix with her finger then put it to my mouth.

“Not now babygirl. I’ll taste them when you done.”

“I want some!” A3 jumped up and down.

“Uhh, no your mouth dirty.”

“Is not!” He yelled at her.

“Is too! Dirty boy.”

“I no dirty.” He poked out his lip and cried into Amb’s stomach. Amb rubbed his head.

“Auggie ignore Sata okay?”

“Okay.” He wiped his eyes.

Amb poked Sata hard.

“Ow!”

“Stop being mean to your brother.”

“Amber.” I tried to refocus her attention on the issue.

“I tried baby, I couldn’t.”

I shook my head like okay. I walked out the kitchen and went back downstairs.

“Bobby.”

“Yeah cuz, what’s up?”

“You gon—

“Oh I fixed that toilet in there for you already.” He cut me off.

“In there?”  I pointed to the bathroom.

“Yup.” He went back to watching television.

I went to the bathroom and saw he had fixed the toilet that we hired two plumbers to fix and they couldn’t.

“Wow, thank you Bobby Ray.”

“No problem cuz. I can fix just about anythang.” He took a big handful of popcorn and stuffed his mouth.

“On top of that I appreciate y’all for welcoming me into your home. God gon bless y’all real good for this.” He said with his mouth full.

“Aw it’s no problem man.”

I saw Amb standing on the stairs and she gave me a face like you can’t be serious.

“Anything you need let us know cuz.” I told him.

“Will do.” His eyes were fixated on the television.

I walked passed Amb ashamed up the stairs. She followed behind me and closed the door.

“Chicken.”

“Amb get out my face. The man fixed our bathroom show him a little respect.”

“Are you serious?” She jumped up and down she couldn’t believe what I said.

“Besides there’s a lot of stuff at the office I need fixed and if he can do it. It makes no sense to hire somebody else.”

“So you’re using him now?”

“No. The man lost his job. Be sympathetic. I’m going to give him a job as my repairman at the office.”

Amb folded her arms. “And you’re going to pay him?”

“Yes. But he still got to go.”

“And whose supposed to tell him that?

“You the lawyer. That’s your job to think.  You’ll figure it out. Love you” I pecked her lips and went toward the kitchen.

“Sata let daddy taste what you made.”
