The unholy excuse:
it's irrational to refuse
a hand offered when drowning,
but the human condition is
we think we're too great
to ever descend to the grave--
so quick to be crowning
ourselves as kings,
we forget meaning.
Apathy among beasts
like goats bleating
into the abyss,
oblivious.
