Jason could never explain the extent of his feelings for two reasons, the first no one would understand and second Jason himself couldn't understand them. He knew his feelings weren't normal, but at the same time he couldn't just shut them off. Of course, he had real feelings for Piper, but this was stronger, in a way he couldn't explain. His feelings for staplers were so strong he couldn't ignore them anymore.
