Jayden's P.O.V.-

"Jayden!" Dad calls. "I'm going out tonight with a couple friends, I left you money on the counter to order Pizza or something if your hungry." Dad yells.

I run down the stairs to give him a hug goodbye and a 'I love you'.

He grabs his things and leaves.

-------------------------------------------------

The doorbell rang. I ran downstairs as fast as I could, knowing who would be on the other side of the door.

I open it.

Only, to my surprise, it wasn't Elliot. It was my ex-boyfriend Mike.

We broke over a year ago, but Mike has always seemed to find me. He never leaves me alone.

"What do you want?" I rudely ask. "I just want to talk, please? You've been ignoring me ever since we broke up, and Jayden, I-I love you. I can't live without you."

"Mike, please leave. I don't want you here. And I want you no where near me, got that?"

Mike's eyes start to water. I can see that he was beginning to cry. I rolled my eyes.

He stands up straight. "Fine. If that's what you want, then I'll do it. I'll do anything for you."

He leaves. I close the door, almost at once. I take a deep breath.

"Elliot should be here any minute. Get yourself together, Jayden." I whisper to myself.

After a couple minutes of fixing myself up, my doorbell rings. 'Elliot' I immediately thought. I open the door and low and behold, there was Elliot.

"Oh, Hi Elliot!" I say. "Hey! Jayden!" Elliot says.

I welcome him in. "Make yourself at home" I say.

"You have a nice home" Elliot says facing me.

"Thank you, I have lived here for only a couple years now" I reply.

"So, let's get studying?" I ask, waiting for a response. "Yeah. Totally." Elliot sits down on my soft burgundy sofa, and pulls out his journal and a pen.

I grab my notes from my backpack, and a text book. "Okay, so we are on page 232 of the textbook." I say. "We're studying light, matter, and basically everything we learned from 5th grade" I explain to Elliot.

After about 15 minutes of studying, I ask Elliot, "Are you hungry?" He replies with a simple "Yeah, I could eat."

"How does pizza sound?" I ask him.

"Yeah, that sounds pretty good."

"Okay. Great." I walk up from the sofa to the money on top of the counter, and dial the number of the pizza place. I order the pizza, and I can tell from the corner of my eye, Elliot is totally checking me out. In my head, I'm thinking oh my god. Elliot is totally checking me out.

I hang up the phone, and walk back over to the couch.

"Can I tell you something? I feel like I can trust you." Elliot murmurs in a deep voice. I immediately get nervous and take a deep breathe.

"Yes. You can trust me."

"Okay. So I just broke up with my ex and I just can't seem to get her off of my mind. She's everything I need. And I think I'm In love with her."

I immediately feel my eyes tear up. My heart starts beating faster and faster. I'm furious. I'm actually starting that like Elliot. But, not as a friend.

"I need your advice."

"Well, I'm glad you came to me. Why did you guys break up in the first place?" I ask.

"Well, she really wasn't happy, she said that she wanted to take a break and that she didn't see a future with us."

"I see. Well, I'm having that same problem with my ex. Except he is in love with me. I can't stop you from loving her. But, there's a saying that says if you love something, set it free. If it comes back, it was meant to be. So, let her go." I speak, fighting back the tears that are about to pour out of me.

"I guess that's what I have to do if I love her."

The doorbell rings. "Well, the pizzas here I guess." I leave to answer the door, grabbing the money. I answer the door and grab the pizza box and hand over the money. "Thank you" I say as the man leaves.

"Elliot, does your ex go to the same school as us?" I ask, placing the box on the table were we were sitting.

"Yes. Her name is Scarlet."

Scarlet.

Scarlet is my best friends little sister.

Scarlet.

"I think I know her." I say. Elliot and I both grab a slice of pizza.

THE NEXT DAY-

I wake up on my bed. I barely remember what happened last night.

I can feel my tears from last night. My face, burning hot. I'm still in my clothes from last night.

I look in my mirror and stare at my face. I try to smile, but it's not worth it. I'm don't really feel myself today. Its like, I'm not me today. I grab my brush and brush through my hair.

Prim is calling my phone, I answer it.

"Hello?" I say in my morning raspy voice.

"Tonight Scarlet and I are going to the mall. Do you want to come?"

"Not really, I don't really feel myself today and I would hate to force myself to do something. I think I'll pass."

"Okay, well if you change your mind, call me."

I hang up.

I walk down my stairs, in the same clothes that I wore yesterday. Dad is in the kitchen working on one of his "inventions" for work. Sometimes, it's like he doesn't even notice me when he's doing it.

I walk by him. "Hey dad"

He doesn't respond. "Hey dad!" I say again, this time almost screaming.

"DAD!" I yell out. He gets scared and almost drops the whole thing on the floor. "Oh, sorry honey. Good morning!" He says clearing his voice.

I roll my eyes. I sit at the counter and watch dad play with the parts of his machine.

I almost immediately get bored and walk back up the stairs. I open up my drawer, and pull out black leggings, a black and white long sleeve shirt, and my all black low-cut converse. I change into it.

"Thank god it's Saturday" I say in a low tone.

I grab my phone and walk back down stairs.

I get a text. And of course, it's from Mike. It read "I want 2 see u."

And another, "Can we talk about 'us'?"

I roll my eyes, but decide to respond this time. "Okay Mike. Tonight, meet me at the mall at 6 pm, by the food court. If your not there I'm leaving, don't waste my time." I texted.

I put my phone down and check the time. 3:24 Pm.
