Sleeves

The comfort of winter wraps around my wrist,
Sheltering my scars from the wind,
From the storms of stares.
She keeps them safe.
She keeps them sacred.
She keeps them warm.
The blistering heat bleeds through her cover.
Vulnerability drips down my sleeve
And melts away my power.
I wear my mistakes that are torn by eyes,
Waiting helplessly for the annual ice.
