"I can be bailed out. But you.... You look like you family can't even afford clothes, much less bail you out." He scoffed with utter disgust trailing in his voice. HOW DARE THIS JERK SAY THAT ABOUT MY FAMILY! "YOU ASSHOLE! And I was gonna come and take responsibility for the scratch but since your perverted and unclean mind decided to intrude, I guess you can pay for it yourself." It took a lot of courage for me to not slap him. I mean even if I did, he wouldn't feel anything.
"You better watch your place b**ch." He muttered lightly but enough for me to hear. I heard it alright and I am pretty sure that the majority of people would either:
>Be slap him
>Kicking him where the sun doesn't shine
>Or other people would come to your rescue and try to flirt them up
None of that is possible in my case, I was a coward. Yes it is important to stand upto people but there is so much you can take until you breakdown and let anybody and everybody trample over your self-esteem. I started walking off when I saw a police car coming towards my direction. It passed me and I let out a sigh that I held in. "Excuse me miss, please stop." Spoke too soon. I turned around to come face-to-face with... Joshua?
"Alana?" He was just as amazed as I was. Joshua was one of my brother's best friends. Me and Josh were really good friends when we were younger but we drifted apart after Chris and him went to college. We did meet for the occasional holidays, nevertheless it's been a long while since I last saw him. "Well, um... I was called here because of an accident regarding that gentleman's car..." He trailed off and jerked his head to the side. I caught a glimpse of Mr. CPR, waiting impatiently. "Look Josh, I reall didn't--" I was interrupted by Mr. CPR, "Are you guys nearly done?! I have to go somewhere!"
I gulped and glared at the ground, until I felt a hand on my shoulder. "Don't worry, Lana. I'll dismiss the complaint, but promise me you can pay him." I nodded, then sighed, "You can take legal act-" My lips paused when Josh's index finger pressed on them, telling me to be quiet.
He put his finger under my chin, making me look up-- "Calm down, I know I haven't been in your life for a while, but I know what is happening," He hushed in a gentle voice. Hello....! we are in the middle of the sidewalk. I knew what he was talking about, my dad and his job, our debt, Chris working part-time....
He let go off my chin and I straightened up when we heard someone cough. Shadowing behind Joshua, I stopped to the side of a tree and listened to Josh explain. "Well, it seems that I have to dismiss your complaint, but you will ge-"
"What?! First she scratches my car, jaywalking. Then she scratches my car. And now you just dismissed the complaint like that." Mr. CPR yelled.
"Jaywalking is against the law," Joshua answered glancing at me "but so is speeding. I am a new-recruit and I know I should take action against both of you, but I won't. But since you are asking for it so desperately..." He said averting his eyes to Mr.CPR.
"Fine! I'll go see a company and will send it into the police station. Happy?!" He said looking at me with a cold, hard stare.

After Mr. CPR left, Josh gave me his new number and went off on his way. He told me he would drop me off, but I rejected his offer.
As I continued walking, I remembered all the good times I had with Joshua many years ago. One time, I was walking home from school and Christian and Joshua decided to prank me. They hid in the bushes and when walked past they jumped out. I screamed and they began laughing their heads off.
But I soon regained my calmness and took out pepper spray from my bag and sprayed it into their eyes. And this time, I was the one laughing as they jumped up and down, looking like two idiots.

*At the daycare*
"Hello Alana, thanks for dropping by," Meredith Zander, the daycare assistant smiled.
"I am terribly sorry for taking the forms from you yesterday. The thought completely missed my mind." As she shook her head, strands of her dark red hair loosened from the bun, and fell onto her face.
"No problem." I replied, handing her documents. "See you on Friday." She exclaimed. I smiled and waved goodbye
First impression of her on the interview day... I was stunned. She wore a floral dress which hugged her figure, petite yet strong and bold. Her hair cascaded down to her shoulder, the colour of her hair reminded me of red wine. Her face- flawless. She had grey eyes and thick lashes. And guess what her age is.... 39, going onto 40. But she looked 25.
I was awakened from my thoughts when I bumped into a hard chest. "Oh... I am so sor-" I regained my balance and looked up to see none other than Mr. CPR. He clenched his jaw and frowned. "Alana... You gave me the wrong folder, sweetie." A voice came from behind me and I looked to see Meredith with a folder.
I took the folder and looked through it to find my English homework and assignments. "Oh- I-I'm sorry. Let me just get th-.... Here." I said handing her the right folder. "Well, I forgot to intoduce you to my son. Noah." She beemed. I was filled with shock. Son? And I could do was smile shakily.
