★ the fragments of us ★

When we speak of a whole,
do you think about how we were once upon a time?
Once upon a time, we had a goal.
We daydreamed and salvaged every dime.

A family; that was our aim,
to be in glee and completeness.
But do you remember how our love turned lame
when you weren't honest?

Thought I didn't notice,
when you came home late at night.
I had to consistently practice
keeping my tears from twinkling in the light.

I waited and as every millisecond ticked away,
my breathing became faltered.
The truth had pierced me like a ray,
and my heartbeat had dangerously altered.

A bead of tear finally escaped,
breaking the dam that held it back.
All the hopes of our dreamscape
was wiped away with a rag.

Remember the fragments of us?
Remember how happy we once were?
Remember how I held you when you cried and cussed?
Remember we once promised that we would never let "us" deter?

It was all your doing,
it was all your fault.
Now you caused the idea of us to be ruined
because you tossed it out of your boat.

The fragments of us are unfixable
and it was all because of you causing the trouble.

The fragments of us are unfixable and it was all because of you causing the trouble
